42. The invasion, part 17
(16th - 31st December 1942)
Canadians managed to sneak a division into Three Forks, where US army previously lost nearly 1400 men. However Canadians weren't as stubborn as their American allies and immediately escaped after losing 15 men.
Canadian forces in Cortez, in vicinity of Santa Fe, have been attacked and once again proved that Canadians forces are much weaker than their US counterparts. After 10 hour long battle the victory has been secured and IJA managed to approach airfield in Santa Fe.
Allies are somehow managing to sneak relatively lot divisions into places where they've previously lost a battle. Usually one division without a dig in bonus is not a threat to advancing Imperial Army and second battle of Alamagordo was example of that. While Japanese forces have lost 56 men US militias have lost 898 men.
Battle of Pecos was first battle fought outside Sierra Nevada and inside Great Plains. Outside of this this battle hasn't been exceptional - like always Canadian army proved not to be a challenge.
Santa Rosa was another battle which was fought in Great Plains. Victory in Santa Rosa will allow Japanese Army to capture neighboring provinces with Santa Fe which will ease future attack on Santa Fe as this province is one of the more important ones as airfields are rare issue in the west.
Salt Lake City was finally captured and medium bombers air fleet was issued to immediately rebase there.
Shortly after Salt Lake City was captured attack on Vernal has started with air support from medium bombers stationed in Salt Lake City. The battle itself was quick and decisive as IJA forces have lost 23 men while opposing allied forces have lost ten times more soldiers (before taking casualties from bombing into account).
Situation in the United States of America, last December 1942. It's clearly visible that advance in the south wasn't stopped by the weather as even in winter temperatures aren't dropping bellow zero, while IJA forces stationed in Canada have to face -20°C severe winters.
Infrastructure is high enough to supply invasion forces so there are no supply issues and it's not likely that any will occur in the future.
Overview of air battles and airfields in the south where aircraft sees most of action. USAAF occasionally tries to execute logistical bombing or a ground attack but it was always repelled by Japanese aircraft.
Casualties:
Causality ratio has risen from 3.33 to 3.41, mainly due to increased bombing effort thanks to captured airfields.
