The Sun Rises From The East

My first EUIII AAR. My country is Japan, as my earlier games as Japan have been good.

Settings: All on normal except LN random.
Game: EUIII IN 3.1 with Whole World Mod
Difficulty: Normal
Goal: WC

Chapter I: A new dawn

Japan, ruled by Gokomatsu I, is a small island nation next to China. For us, the world is pretty much Manchu, Ming, Korea and the Indochinese nations.

Our ministers could be better, but these are good enough for now.

Then we will look at our economic situation.

Our inflation is on the rise, but we need to gain stability and a little money. Primary objective now is to gain +3 stability. Before that, we won't even consider any invasions. (Or we will consider, but not execute invasions).

We are a small nation, so we gain stability fast. Few years and we are at +3.

Ezochi has a 4 percent chance to rebel, due to the animist religion there.

Government & domestics:

Everything looks OK, except serfdom, mercantilism and land/naval slider.
We move our policies towards free trade. As a CoT, Settsu just isn't big enough to be a center of trade for the whole world.

Next update: We will unpause the game!!!

A Japanese AAR, I subscribe! And looking forward for more! ;)

A Japan AAR, good luck, as for invasions, you should get Korea before Ming guarantees it

They are currently allied with Manchu, but i'll manage. I'll take all regions + their capital, then vassalize them.
How come there aren't any more of Japanese AARs? There are Kanem Bornus, Ashantis, Switzerland etc. but really only a few AARs with far eastern countries.

Awesome a Japanese AAR! Shame the WWM doesn't have a Sengoku thingy in it.
I could have taken MMP, but i really suck at Sengoku Jidai, i always lose it.

FINALLY, why the hell did it take so long to make a Japan AAR? Anyway, you should have invaded Korea. I start my Japan games with Dow now Ryukyu and Korea before Ming or Manchu allies/guerantees it!

Chapter II: Annexation of Ryukyu and the colonizing of Taiwan & Kurils

5.jpg

With our trading in Settsu stabilized, we are now ready for our first colonizations, and eventfully wars.

1st of February 1401:

triple.jpg

With stability at +3, we shouldn't need to worry about other problems than religious.

7th of February 1402:
It's always nice to have colonies, especially close to our neighbors.

One month later, March 19th 1402 we assaulted Ryukyu...
...and by the next year we annexed them.

Now our heads are turned towards Korea.

Next update: Pre-war diplomacy

III: Pre-war diplomacy

12th of November 1404. Ming accepted our alliance offer:

They will take care of Manchu. We destroy Korea.

That's it for diplomacy :)P) now it's time for pre-war actions.

15th of September 1405:

armies.jpg

With these armies plus the 12,000 troops in a fleet nearby, we are ready for the attack.

All set.

Next update tomorrow, it will be:

The Japanese-Manchurian war (i suppose Machu will take the leadership...?)

I just noticed Japan cannot westernise... crap. But i'll manage.

If i can't westernise, i'll make sure no one else gets a chance for it!

I think you need a latin neighbour to westernize.

The decision comes up when you have a neighbour with latin tech group!

by editing the first post i think ... if that doesn't work you can try pm to a mod asking him to change the name

and the westernization only shows if you have a latin neighbor , that isn't the case of early japan :D

IV: The Japanese-Korean War (1406-1408)

When the war was declared, we found out that the traitorous Ming didn't intervene, but nor did Manchu. It was a fair 1on1. (Well, not exactly fair, because we had five times more men).

DoW.jpg

Unfortunately Emperor Gokomatsu didn't see this succesful war. He died, and the new emperor rose to the throne.

Also note sieges and Korea behind the info box.

And so, in early 1408, we had conquered all of Korea. We started to negotiate peace right away.

This was the offer they accepted:

War is won. Resulted in a decisive Japanese victory.

Kinda short update.

But now:

Where should we strike next?

1]Manchu
2]Indochinese nations
3] other, what? (Not ming yet)
