The Stuttering Prince of Armenia (a VERY SHORT AAR)

...or "How to lose a Principality in Seven Years"

Have you heard the sad tale of the Prince of Armenia who, frail of health and almost last in line to the Throne of Byzantium, managed to wed a wife of great skill to increase the revenue of his small realm and gain the bundles of joy that were his two sons Guy and Moshen and his two daughters of no consequence, and then proceeded to pursue the heathens around the Black Sea, thus dragging his liege the Emperor into great wars and victory, wherefrom our Prince snagged a few provinces that his liege did not take before him or from under his nose, and how this Prince's status grew to where he become first in line to the throne of mighty Byzantium, but how plagued by a further decline of health he neglected to bequeath some titles upon his promising sons and when in a pitched battle with the agressive Turks, while he was already negotiating a peace, he fell off his horse and died and thus lost any place in history?

You didn't? Well, now you know why.

I figured that if my main died before the kids grew up, had a bride found for them and a title given, then I'd just continue as one of my non-family vassals. That's a one-time mistaken assumption.

At least I got to write my first AAR. Very short of course, without pictures, but an AAR nevertheless. Now that I've jumped into the water, the worst is over

I AM thinking of redoing the Armenian Prince thing... but first I have to move in real life and then I'll actually BE in Armenia for a month before coming back to my computer(s).

So. ... yes, there most likely will be a restart, but not in the immediate future. Thank you for your interest though. Was it wrong to post a somewhat shortish AAR? ;O)

okay.. that's good to know. It may have been very short. It definitely is my first. But it most certainly was reported the day it happened.

I recommend the Kingdom of Cilicia in 1187 if you want an Armenian AAR. You're free of Byzantium and there's plenty of small to mid-size powers around you. You just need to be ready for the Sultanate of Rum to come after you.

In my game, I kicked the Rum out of Asia Minor, married the Emporer's daughter, arranged accidents for his sons, inherited the throne (or what was left of it after the civil war), awarded the Emporers title to a minor count in the Balkans, and ruled Asia Minor as the King of Cilicia. Now the Mongols are knocking on my eastern border. All in about 50 years.
