Chapter 1 - Rebuilding America/Political Situation
March 1st, 1939.
Eight months after the American Union State finally got on it's feet. Her economy was decent, but the rest of her Industrial Capacity was either being used to create a stable PSA or to fuel Canadian interests. The AUS Constitution was put into action, along with the new Congress and President. The new task for the AUS Congress was to create an industrialized America, but also a powerful America. There was also only one party in the American Union State, the America First Party. "One Country, One Party" President Huey Long famously said. Congress decided the American Union State needed a new anthem, an anthem that showed how beautiful America was. It was decided that 'America the Beautiful' was the new anthem of the AUS. The Star-Spangled Banner truly died that day. It was also the day that the tyrannical Jim Crow Laws were abolished by President Huey Long and the AUS Congress. Their reasoning was that every man is free, no matter where his ancestors came from. The American Union State effectively cracked down on radical groups like the KKK and freedom was coming to all of America, not just parts.

The AUS Congress also decided what to do with the former United States of America. President Huey Long with support from the AUS Congress abolished states as a whole and instead divided the lands of America into Seven Commonwealths, but the map he used had Thirteen Commonwealths (the other six are in foreign control besides Alaska which hasn't become a AUS Commonwealth yet). President Long did this because the states had too much power, and for America to be a strong nation it needed to be centralized. The Commonwealths were: Atlanta Commonwealth (includes former states of North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, and Viriginia), Gulf Commonwealth (made up of Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas), Oklahoma Commonwealth (includes Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas), Great Lakes Commonwealth (Former CSA Territories which includes Minnesota and Iowa), Dakota Commonwealth (comprised of the Dakotas along with the unimportant Nebraska), Kentucky Commonwealth, sometimes called Lincoln Commonwealth ( it controls former Kentucky and Tennessee), and finally Washington Commonwealth (based in Philadelphia, it includes Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey).
Based on the Texas Flag, the stars represent the five regions in Gulf Commonwealth, the Blue represents the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, the Red stands for those who died for the Commonwealth, and the White stands for peace for every free man. Gulf Commonwealth is one of the richest places in the American Union State, and it's capital city is in Austin.
Atlanta Commonwealth gained many territories however the Carolinian People wanted at least some representation for being one of the first states to secede and join the American Union State, so the flag is a combination of the once Georgian Flag and the Carolinian Flag. As the name suggests it's capital is in Atlanta.
Oklahoma was special in the fact that while their state did come to an end, Oklahoma became a Commonwealth that controlled more land than even their southern neighbor Texas. Their flag is still that of the one that used in the United States of America. However like all Commonwealths they are very much governed by the AUS President and Congress. Like Kentucky their capital is still that of when they were a state, Oklahoma City.
The Dakotas were finally united when the American Union State took over and gained Nebraska as a new region. The Dakota Commonwealth adopted a new flag, the three stars represent the former North Dakota, South Dakota, and the State of Nebraska. The Fleur-De-Lis French Symbol represents the fact that it was once French owned. The Yellow represents the agricultural impact on Dakota Commonwealth and the Green represents the harsh journeys of Louis and Clark during their exploration of the land. The American Union State declared that it's new capital would be in Pierre, Middle Dakota.
The Great Lakes Commonwealth was created after five months of harsh occupation of AUS Minute Men, it includes all of the Former CSA Territories, and is largely responsible for rooting out the remaining Syndicalists in America. The Five Blue Oceanic Stars represent the Five Great Lakes, the Green stands for the growth of the Commonwealth's industry, and the White stands for purity from Syndicalism. It's new capital is in Indianapolis, a city which was never touched by Syndicalism.
Since Kentucky was already a Commonwealth of the United States of America, the American Union State decided to leave them as they are and gave them Tennessee which is now culturally Kentuckian. The capital is still in Frankfurt, Kentucky, as it will remain for all time.
The Washington Commonwealth was the last American Commonwealth after the Second American Revolution to be created, and for a while it was ignored by the American Union State. But it eventually grew into one of the more unique commonwealths. Like the Great Lakes Commonwealth, the Washington Commonwealth was once home to the enemy of the Union State, the United States of America. The Washington Commonwealth is heavily suppressing any USA Influence in the area and it's capital is in Philadelphia. The Red stands for the blood, sweat, and tears that went into creating the Commonwealth. The White stands for the purity from the corrupt regime of the USA. The Blue stands for the old Continental Army that stood up against a world power and won. Finally, the Stars are for the Minute Men who died during the siege of Washington D.C. (which isn't in control of the Washington Commonwealth but is how the Washington Commonwealth got it's name).
In other news, General Patton and other top AUSDF (American Union State Defense Force) Generals were begining to embark on massive reforms in the AUS Military. General Patton wanted a Standing Army rather a drafted one. He also didn't like the idea of lone militias being the nation's only defense. His new reforms included using America's abundance of Firepower to the maximum advantage. He has plans for whole Armored Divisions, something that was unheard of. His reforms were already starting to take affect, the AUS Army now had three complete Motorized Divisions, all of which were readying themselves on the AUS-PSA Border. Meanwhile, groups of Infantry were guarding the Mexican border, most of them were Texan Volunteers who needed training however. Up north on the AUS-New England Border, six Infantry Divisions were patrolling the frontier. These divisions were fresh and had an itch for war with Canada, if that time were to ever come to pass, you can bet that these men will rip through those Royalists before you can say America. A Garrison Division right now is in production, it will be shipped down to the newly acquired Panama Canal.
First Italian Volunteers (for the AUS) being converted into true American Union State Soldiers. Many Italians immigrated to the American Union State during the Civil War, this is merely one Infantry Division. This is also true for Germans and Russians who went to fight in America to stomp out Syndicalism. These men stayed in America and this lead to greater ties between the AUS and her European ancestors.
The American Union State Air Force was fairly decent and sizable, led by the Head of Government himself Charles Lindbergh. There was one Strategic Bomber Wing, many Tactical Bombers, and around 10 Interceptors to protect American Soil. However Long wanted to focus on the Navy and Army rather than the Air Force because of the imminent threat to the AUS. But, the AUSAF would gradually be upgraded and would gradually grow stronger as the years passed.

The Navy was going through reforms as well. Many admirals recommended Aircraft Carriers and Submarines would be the future of Naval power rather than large fleets. However, we only had two Carriers, and half of the former US Navy was in the hands of the traitors in California. Our intelligence says they have an Aircraft Carrier of their own, that should be interesting. Anyhow, the AUS Pacific Fleet was now stationed in Anchorage, Alaska for the time being. It had many old battleships but it did have the better of our two Aircraft Carriers. Many Alaskans welcomed the fleet when it first arrived as they saw it as the restoration of American Alaska, which had been occupied by the Entente during the birth of the AUS. President Long even promised that Alaska would no longer be a territory forever, and that it would be fully integrated and turned into it's own Commonwealth, unlike most of the former US States it would control all the land it originally did. In the east, the Atlantic Fleet was now based in Charleston, it was armed with a Carrier, and like the Pacific Fleet it was outdated. Well, it wouldn't be able to stand up to a navy like the ones of the Great Powers in Europe. Along the coast Submarines were practicing convoy raiding techniques, just in case we needed to starve a country out of existence.
AUS Pacific and Atlantic Fleets being led by the AUSS Atlanta and AUSS Ranger performing Naval Combat Training Procedures off the Coast of Alaska, which Canada protested because it was 'threatening Western Canadians', it was more like they didn't like having competition.
Meanwhile, across the Atlantic things seemed like it explode at any moment. French and German troops were massing in Benelux and Alsace-Lorraine, waiting for the disaster to strike. There was a Syndicalist Revolution in the bread-basket of MittelEuropa, Ukraine, however German Special Forces managed to overthrow the government, saving the East from the horrors of Syndicalism. In Mother Russia, Wrangle reformed the Russian Empire under his leadership along with a puppet Tsar on the thrown. Most of the former Tsarist lands are in their control, along with a pocket of China, but Eastern Europe was still German. Down in the Italy, a extremist National Populist movement took over the country, diving the peninsula into two radical regimes. In Iberia, the war between the Kingdom of Spain, Carlist Spain, and the CNT/FAI was still ongoing, but a legitimate Kingdom of Spain victory seemed imminent. On the British Isles, Oswald Mosley had taken full power over the Union of Britain, a dirty Syndicalist regime. They were currently at war with Ireland in order to 'spread the revolution'. The American Union State sought to make ties with Ireland and help them in their war against the expansionist Britannia, but with their cities destroyed by constant air raids, an actual ground invasion seemed likely. In Iceland, a newly independent country, was making ties with Canada, making it a possible enemy in the future. The Union of Britain was also trying to get Iceland into the camp of the Internationale, but their efforts were in vain. Scandinavia remained mostly the same, Finland still hated Russia and Sweden still hated Norway. Denmark was now in the Kaiserreich's sphere of influence now because of the threat of British invasion of Greenland, giving them some security. Portugal was being Portugal, just sitting idly by while their neighbor was in a fierce civil war. Finally, you had the Balkans, the place in Europe where everyone hates everyone. Nothing interesting has happened, at least right now. The dictatorship in Romania cut off the oil supply for Germany, Greece is loving having both Cyprus and Crete back, and Bulgaria took Adrianople and Galipoli after the Ottomans collapsed in the middle east. This is Europe, it may seem bad but it could have been a lot worse.

An Irish family taking refuge in a Dublin Air Shelter during the Blitz, a time period in which the Republican Air Force bombarded city after city, many Irish would perish, but most lived, some even moved to the American Union State, arriving in cities like Charleston (Atlanta Commonwealth) and Miami (Gulf Commonwealth).

This was the day before the famous Battle of Madrid, a battle in which Monarchist Soldiers defended Madrid against both the CNT/FAI and Carlist forces. The battle resulted in a Monarchist victory and a massive boost in morale.
In Asia, things were...interesting. China was split between Russia, the Qing Empire with their puppet Yunnan, and Mongolia, a puppet of Wrangle. The madman who once controlled Mongolia was defeated by Russia and the Qing, but the Qing were to slow and didn't get to get Mongolia back into the fold. India was being slowly united by Delhi, a British client state that is destroying Radical Socialism from the subcontinent. In Oceania, the British puppet state called the Australasian Confederation, a union between Australia and New Zealand to help better the British position in the Pacific was going through reforms seeing as Syndicalists almost took over the country. The Dutch also released Indonesia, forming the Dutch East Indies. The Japanese with their Manchurian client state were severely weakened by the loss of Transmur-Primorsk to Wrangle. However, their dominance in the Pacific was only opposed by the Kaiser in Berlin, and should things explode in Europe and Germany has it's hands full, Japan could seize the opportunity to get complete dominance over the Asian-American Pacific. Hawaii was struggling with independence, they relied heavily on the Entente Powers, Japan could take the islands for themselves however, making the Empire of the Rising Sun a possible threat to the American Union State. In the Middle East, the Ottoman Empire was toppled, well it was and was not. The Ottomans only controlled the Turkish mainland, but they still considered themselves the ruler of the Middle East. Persia, Egypt, Lybia, and Heshemite Arabia formed a Arab coalition to overthrow the Ottomans, and as you can see they succeeded. Armenia and Albania declared themselves fully independent from the Ottomans, this was a massive blow to the Turks. Kurdistan revolted and was finally free, and the Don-Kuban Union rejoined the Russian Motherland.
Indian Soldier of the Bharitya Commune defending the outskirts of Calcutta until the bitter end, the city fell in February of 1939. Funny enough the Bharitya Commune was using German equipment as you can see, it was actually stolen from the Princely Federation (a nation that was invested in by the Second Reich) before it's downfall.
Imperial Russian Troops under the command of Wrangle march into Vladivostok as the Imperial Japanese Forces stationed in the former Far Eastern Republic withdraw from the rightfully Russian region. However, many Russians living in Transmur favored the Japanese over their own kin because they felt like their own independent people.
Africa was fairly quiet. Ethiopia had small civil war between the legitimate government and a bunch of princes, what a joke. An Ethiopian Prince even married a Japanese woman, there's something you don't see everyday. MittelAfrika bought a Portuguese Colony and had to fight a small native rebellion after a mining incident, but all in all they seemed fine. South Africa rejoined their British masters, adding another pawn for King Edward VIII. Every sane American really hates monarchs, America is the Land of the Free, and the Patriots fought for Liberty and Justice from the British, the American Union State very well might have to do so as well. Liberia, a nation of former African Slaves, fully got out of the USA's sphere of influence, finally being able to decide it's future. President Huey Long respects their independence but he would rather have them under American control. Morocco is a thriving German colony, and Western Sahara is in shambles, along with other Spanish colonies because of their civil war. Sometimes Anarcho-Syndicalists might take over, other times Catholic fascists.
German Troops of the Afrika Korps lead by Erwin Rommel plan an attack on a rebel stronghold located in the Njassaland province of MittelAfrika. The planning of the attack was also helped by native Africans who knew the surrounding area, making the attack in the end a success, one step closer to quelling the Njassaland Rebellion.
Then there was the Americas. North America has already been covered, but South America hasn't. La Plata and Brazil are a bomb waiting to go off just like Germany and France in Europe, Columbia has renamed it's self Gran Columbia, claiming the Grand Colombian region (most of Northern South America), and Chile suffered a devastating earthquake, God bless them. South America was actually pretty funny, it was just like the world. Three main alliances. La Plata (MittelEuropa), Brazil (Internationale), Gran Columbia and Ecuador (Entente). I guess there was the South American version of the American Union State, Peru. A wildcard, like the American Union State. President Huey Long is right now making a diplomatic visit to Venezuela to help forge an alliance between our two nations. Venezuela is a thriving democratic country, and the American Union State has a common enemy with it, the Empire on Which the Sun Never Sets. Long could promise them the Caribbean, besides occupied Puerto Rico (Caribbean Federation annexed it and refused to give it up), or he could just sign a pact with them, if either country were ever attacked by any power, the other country would join the other. Only time would tell.
President Huey Long, the First President of the American Union State before leaving on a plane to Venezuela for a diplomatic visit. This visit would be the first time he left the American Union State and would be the day the American Union State finally got involved in the affairs of South America.
Brazilian Motorized Infantry Divisions being deployed to the Argentinian-Brazilian Border by order of the Syndicalist Dictatorship in power. These troops would aid in the Brazilian Wall, a fortification that would help in defense against La Plata and block Argentinians from crossing the border.

I hope you all liked it! I certainly did! And yes I know my story may seem very odd but I hope it isn't stupid. Let me get a few things straight, I plan on going to war with the PSA soon, and I plan on getting Venezuela into my alliance. They would actually make a good ally and since they are basically in the same situation as we are it makes sense for us to forge an alliance, sort of like Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany during WWII. I also know that the Second Weltkrieg is going to break out soon, I have no idea what is going to happen but I don't plan on getting involved unless Germany get's it's but slapped by the French and British. I don't know how Spain is going to end up, but they are useless anyway, once when I played as the liberated UK and invaded Iberia, they only had 3 or 4 divisions of Infantry, it was mainly the demoralized French who I was fighting. I have the Mexican border garrisoned instead of the Canadian border because after you conquer the PSA as the AUS you get an event which says "Go to war with Mexico or gain dissent". Finally, I don't know if I'm going to go to war with Canada yet, I could and I would probably win but it would be a costly victory, I mean I would have to go up against France, Delhi, Australasia, South Africa, and the Caribbean Federation. It would take a long time, and I don't know if the American Union State would flat out annex Canada or just make it into a puppet state. (Don't worry Texas I really do love you! Just maybe on the other side of the red river eh?) Oklahoma has called out the national guard against Texas before, and recently I think given it's 39'. Anyway I'm getting off topic defending my home states pseudo-sovereignty lol.
