The Stellaris Hive Mind AI Timelapse Tournament wants YOU :-)

I'm interested in how the various AI mods play, so I watched the three timelapses and wrote down the score, pops and fleet power of the top player at the 100, 200 and 300 year mark, and graphed them up.

There's definitely something wrong with the vanilla AI. It's under-aggressive, and seems to have a much smaller fleet than its number of pops would otherwise indicate.

SEEING the difference between the Standard AI and the Modded AIs really shows the great work the AI modders do. WOW!

If you look at the top ten, even more unveils. The difference between Starnet and Glavius seems that Glavius creates better on average empires while Starnet creates slightly less powerful on average empires but a much more powerful top dog, probably due to the increased war probability from its extra aggressiveness.
So to play against a "final boss" nightmare opponent, it's Starnet. To play in a very dangerous galaxy, choose Glavius.

It's true for Top Dog decisiveness, it seems slightly less strong on average though, due to being a little overaggressive. The view broadens if you look at the top ten, or all empires.

Well, in a game full of total-war empires, I can see a more-aggressive AI working more efficiently.
Absolutely. The least it does it should automatically create a more powerful top dog.

StarNet and Glavius seems roughly on par for the most part. StarNet higher fleet power is because the mod's AI is designed to be much more aggressive than normal whereas Glavius AI is intended to have a normal level of aggression and just make the AI better overall.

Recovering slightly by playing a bit myself again, so I'd expect to have some revelation for another AI tournament, including most importantly your proposals, in the next 1-2 weeks. A Stellaris community manager has also contacted me about the tournaments, so we'll see if we can broaden the field a bit.
Let's use the "summer break" they take from patching relentlessly :)

Some strategy notes:
- Altarnie Valaina is designed to be the ultimate edict empire with -50% edict costs and +2 edict capacity.
- The Dagorquendi are a warrior culture on a relic world. If they turn it into an ecumenopolis the entertainment arcology will give them lots of duelists for naval cap.
- The Mormegil aren't really all that great mechanically because they need alloys for both fleet and habitats. But space marauder elves are a too fun concept to pass.
- The Gardeners are terribly designed but a blast to play RP-wise. As Fanatic Purifiers they can't absorb other species for colonizing non-Gaia worlds and as spiritualists they're anti-robot.

Fun fact: to name this empire I digged up a lexicon for ancient Sumerian. Scions are overpowered with their free 5k fleet in the early game, so they've been made to be fanatic pacifists.

Preparing to start soon, and then looking into the next AI Tournament. I like that 2 empires per person that are antagonists idea, it's pretty neat :)
