Hello commanders,

here a link first to the topic and the newest changes for sc2: https://www.polygon.com/2017/11/4/16607330/starcraft-2-free-to-play-details-blizzcon-2017

Is the way of f2p, that sc2 is going now the future of rts and do you think it is useable forSD? I think so, as I like both games and I think the division system gives you alot of chances to create a good f2p feature. also coming aces could become buyable and so on. Really I take F2p with buyable content over Spam DLCs all the time (esp. AAA dlc politics).
I mean it is still a DLC politic in some part but it is more like giving you each part yo uwant to have paying, but not the whole at once. Sure pricing this well is a struggle and sure there should be an all in one package maybe but f2p in some parts I think is really helpfull, at least in form of a demo (maybe 1 campaign and 2-4 divisions in singleplayer or so?

THis is just a point of view Ihave atm. If you feel different about it and you dont think that f2p can bring any good to sd, please dicuss it down below (but in a gentle way).

I think there was already a discussion about this, or maybe it just happened in my head. o_O

Anyway, I would love for the game to introduce a "F2P version" that gives you access to the full multiplayer mode and one or two skirmish maps (for training) with, lets say, two divisions per side. You could then upgrade to the full game in order to unlock the full singleplayer campaigns, the rest of the skirmish content and the remaining divisions. maybe even allow people to pick and choose, if they don't want all the content.
Of the top of my head, I can't think of many reasons for not trying out that approach, unless they expect some major sales figures from upcoming steam sales. It would certainly repopulate the game a little.

One concern I have would be griefers and trolls, not sure how you could prevent those from getting out of hand. At least cheating doesn't seem to be a concern with this game.

"a" (I know that there where some already but still I mean SC2 just did this move so maybe there is something to be learned from Blizzard.
I think after coop missions got implemented they have also enough variaty to support f2p (as does sc2 now), they have content they can split up iwth out leaving the free players completlywith nothing in hands.
