How goes the Victoria Revolutios work? I was going to purchase it myself but I read a couple of posts suggesting that V:R has a few bugs that could do with patching so I have held off so far.
Id like to hear your impression of the V:R so far and Id also like to hear what plans you have up your sleeve for your pre-1936 era of your mod.
I'm in my first extended game of V:R with the mod beta right now. It's late 1891, and the Confederacy just secured an alliance with the British Empire. This is on the heels of the CSA buying Cuba, annexing Hawaii, and defeating Mexico in a short war to secure a Pacific coastline.
For a Southern Boy like me, I'm having a blast.
As for V:R itself, overall it's like plain Victoria, only moreso. It's still not the frentic fight-fight-fight action of DD, and playing a country with any sort of free market now means you have to sit back and watch others run your economy for you on top of that. I'm really digging V:R myself for its uniqueness, but if you're on the borderline with the regular game, I'd take a pass on the expansion.
The bug situation and my mod intersect quite a bit. Read any thread on playing the CSA on the Vicky boards and it talks of how hopeless it is. Once I started looking at the files, the thing that fascinated me is how much of that is due to bugs.
For example, there's a US AI event which is essentially "the US finally gets over losing the Civil War" but the trigger on it is broken and it *never* fires, even though it's supposed to in 1868.
"Texan" is supposed to be a native CSA culture at the 1861 scenario's start but isn't, cutting off all those POPs from conversion.
The event that is supposed to get rid of the pro-slavery parties after emancipation doesn't work, so the CSA is stuck with a ruling party that won't let you enact any social reforms even after freeing the slaves and 20 years of constant rebellion.
So mainly the mod so far is just fixing bugs, removing the CSA cores from the US if the South wins the Civil War, and giving at least a few countries some sympathy towards the South in their AI files.
I'll post the V:R mod for download once I hit 1936 and see what the DD port looks like. In the meantime, I'd be happy to share the beta version with anyone willing to give me some feedback. Just email me at csabadass at yahoo dot com if interested.
Hope that answers your questions. Thanks for your interest in my V:R mod, and keep up the great work on the Timeline-191 mod!
