Session 6 Epilogue
This is, obviously, a nice little section where we get to see how Mexico compares to the rest of the world in 1869. Currently, we are 33 years into the game, which means that from this point we have another 67 years to go. Given that we are just now moving into the middle-game, I am fairly happy with our ranking, especially compared to the United States, who we will undoubtedly run into later. (After we finish running into them now)
Here we have overall rank based on prestige. It's fairly obvious, based on our relatively high prestige, and the mediocre 62 American prestige (which isn't even shown here), that the war has helped our score out quite a bit, because every American we kill in a victorious battle puts us that much farther ahead of them. It sounds horrible, but such is war. We actually have the 4th most prestige on the planet, and our military and industrial scores aren't too far behind, so I'd say that we're a fairly balanced country right now, though more craftsmen and soldiers obviously wouldn't hurt.
Ranking based on Industrial score. We're a fair bit off from France and Britain, but we
are catching up with the Americans and Prussians, although I'm dubious about the Prussians. interestingly enough, they haven't yet formed the North German Federation (possibly because Denmark is a Great Power?), so Prussia's score isn't really representative of the German industrial score, should a Union State come into existence.
Nation Comparison sorted by Brigade number. Mexico has the 4th largest army in the world! Now, it should be noted that the Qing are nowhere remotely close to their build cap, and that all three of Russia, France, and Great Britain are actually not mobilized (or are they? I forget), so compared to the top tier European powers, we're actually falling behind. The only positive news is that the US has fallen even further behind than we have, because we've been blasting them to bits for months now. When you consider that my sphere has somewhere above 50 Brigades marching around somewhere as well, the alliance actually is fairly powerful, though a healthy US would still be a significant threat, of course.
This is where we've made, IMO, the most progress: I have it ranked by population. One of the biggest problems for the New World nations in the early and mid game is population, and if you're playing a smaller nation that has a harder time pulling immigrants, this can last into the late-game as well. Mexico has more population than any other country in the Americas, the US included, though it is relatively close. What's more, we're also on parallel with Italy and Turkey, and I have more citizens than Prussia. My plans to expand continuously in both Africa and America mean that this number will only grow, and with immigrants, I hope to eventually compete with the big nations like France, Austria, and even Russia, in the far future. More population means a larger industry, more workers on farms and in mines, and a larger population base to draw soldiers from. A large population also has a snowball effect, because the more people you have in a province, the larger the population growth (this is because pop growth works off of percentages). The better we do in this statistic, the better we will continue to do in this statistic, in other words.
My most valuable provinces. As we can see, the comparison isn't even really close. Far and away my most economically important provinces are my precious metal provinces. The Gold Rush events pump up the populations of these provinces into the tens of thousands, or even above 100,000, then the permanent 5 Liferating boost and natural immigration pull of gold provinces maintain a relatively high growth rate for the rest of the game. Honestly, without these three provinces, playing as Mexico would be much harder, economically speaking.
Last but not least, we have: my most economically viable factories. At this point, most of them produce low-end goods like cement or print, and while it may look like all my factories are in the green, quite a few of them are actually not profitable because of war exhaustion and the ongoing war. The cigarette factories are important because they remain economically viable throughout the game, where some of the other more basic factories tend to fall off, such as the bronze armament factories, or print, or clipper convoys.
That's all for now. The war will continue, next time, in...
