So i was talking to a friend who tweaked the files so he could try out Denmark. So i asked him what the Sound Toll did in EU4, and if it was as overpowered as it should be. But apparently it is not in the game, atleast not the demo. So is this just for the demo, or have the Sound Toll actually been removed from the game, which would make very little sense to me due to its historical importance and impact for Denmark.

Looking at the triggered modifiers, it seems that it indeed isn't in the demo.

I really hope this isn't the case for the full game, I don't really see any point in taking it out of the game.

The Hansa have a Mission to End the Sound Toll, which gives them increased Local Trade Power. It may be possible for other states in the same trade node to get this mission as well- you basically just have to conquer Skåne or Sjælland. Denmark does not get a benefit for it existing, except for preventing a rival from gaining that extra local trade power. And since trade works in "shares," basically, accomplishing that mission does take money out of Denmark's budget.

It's not a triggered modifier anymore but a province modifier. If you click Sjaelland you should see a modifier called Sound Toll, which I think gives 10 extra trade power in the trade node. There are similar ones for other straits like Bosphorus, and major rivers like Vistula in Danzig

Ah, seems you're right. I had totally missed that.

This really doesn't make much sense to me, it makes perfect sense for The Hansa to have a reduced trade power while it's in place, but that reduced trade power should be happening because Denmark gets an increased trade power.

EDIT:
The Sound Toll is a trade modifier on the denmark capital province i think its +10 trade power
Ah, now that makes a lot more sense.
