on the other hand, if hitler dies then you lose shiteloads of good generals as well. When hitler's assassination fails, then the only really good general going to kick the bucket, is rommel. (as far as i remember - lots of airleaders go with hitler, hausser etc...)

that is with the vanilla event

Now the revenge of the Führer will come and many will die by thousands.

@ Trekaddict: Thanks, I plugged in my own event since the July Plot "never happened" and I put it on random chance add a little flavor, so when it rolled around : February 22, 1945 Hitler lived. In response: Hitler asserted control over the military and the SS, national dissent went up 5% and dictatorship went moved all the way back to full. But this won't be the last assassination or coup attempt against Hitler I can promise you that, I'll now probably end up using your event sometime in the future, whenever that will be?

@ The Pippen: Very much so, a lot of wrath to be dealed out.

@ Enewald: Does God hate Germania that much? Perhaps so. Hitler is needed to be alive because he will be the "Mastermind" of the Invasion of Russia and the far thought Invasion of America. God doesn't hate Germania, not yet at least :p

@ Laurwin: If Hitler died, I would have lost all my SS generals: Himmler, Hausser, Bittrich, etc. All those leaders loyal to Hitler, so in some cases since I have yet to take down the SU I was somewhat pleased that my incorporated Assassination Event failed.

@ Kurt_Steiner: I can only feel for the people of the Fatherland now, I would hate to be close or near Hitler at this time.

Erm... Now I think. In a game on mine, I got the 20 july sucessful and Hausser and Bittrich, among some other officers, are still around.

An Assassination attempt on Hitler where the SS was the force that attempted it, or at least the traitors in the SS.

It looks as if the people of Greater Germany will suffer dearly for this treterous behavior and action against the beloved Fuhrer. So what I gathered this was your own event that you plugged in... rather interesting.

The New Dawn

prison_lorry.jpg

In the dark confines of his prisoner cell, Peter Strause can see nothing but the dark and damp hallways. A small light every so often can be seen if he sticks his head out, there is nothing. He slumps back into his confine, a small bed and blanket and goes back to sleep, awaken only moments later by a bright light and loud metal clanging noise. Peter looks up, he can see several guardsmen looking at him with their lights and keys opening up his cell, they look at him and smile and casually walk in, their knight-sticks drawn.

"Poor man, get up! Your on the move." The guardsman throws him a German infantry uniform, " Put it on, now!"

Peter follows the orders, he dresses in the Wehrmacht uniform. He looks like any other German soldier, he is given an soldier cap but not given a rifle at the moment. The guards walk him outside through the cramp and damp hallways, the other prisoners begin to sing and bang on their doors. The would-be assassin walks proudly out of the prison building and doesn't look back at the others who will suffer a much worse fate than his, at least he has a chance of survival. Peter walks up to the guards' captain who sits at a desk with a paper and pen, hands the pen to Peter and he looks and signs the paper on the desk.

The front door guards open the main door and the four other guards escort him out to the front courtyard where a truck and soldiers await, he can see the emblem on their helmets, SS. One has a cigarette in his mouth and the officer walks up and grabs Peter by the shoulder and brings him to the truck and sends him in, "Welcome to the Russian Front mein gut man," he says with a smile and enters the passenger seat and the truck rolls off from the prisoner cell. Peter looks at the worn-down dark secret of the Third Reich, a place that few even know about, the correctional facility. He looks up at the sky, no moon, just dark gray clouds loom overhead, he can hear some of the owls hooting in the middle of the night.

For the past few months, German Military Conscription has halted, the Heer has turned to young men and prisoners for the new wave of soldiers, thus the man that tried to kill Hitler is now a member of the Fuhrer's glorious army. Manpower in the Fatherland must be renewed especially since the winter months of 1945 are slowly coming to a close. He looks at his SS guards taking him to the front, he falls asleep.

~ Wilhelm Pelzer in his winter dress, nothing more than a scarf and wool uniform looks down an old beat-down Polish road and can see headlights coming forward. He looks nervous, his commanding officer walks out to the headlights. Willy thinks its a Russian truck since they're only miles from the Russian Front Lines at Warsaw, it could only be far from that. The truth is that it is a rare German truck making a journey, must German gasoline vehicles are on orders not to move to conserve fuel and oil, which is growing non-existance in the Thrid Reich.

The truck stops about 100 yards from Wilhelm's fox-hole. The officers walk out and engage in a one-on-one conversation. From the back of the truck a lone soldier is thrown out of and a rifle is tossed to him as well. The SS soldiers have just dumped Peter Strause into the cold wintery dephts of the Polish countryside. The newly promoted soldier looks at the surroundings, he slowly walks towards the young 16 year-old soldat. The two men, who have nothing in common and are far from the same ideals and views are about to be brought together by fate...

Oh blimey, the situation seems more than desperate....

@ Trekaddict: Very desperate indeed, outnumbered division wise 500+ to 353, not to mention the fact that half of my divs are so poorly strengthed at the moment in comparision the Red Army is nearly entirely fully strengthed. Tough battles are ahead of the Reich, whatever it's fate may be. "Liberation" will come to the people of Russia.

@ The Pippen: Thus I have shut down all production, reinforcements, etc. (Jan '45 - current April '45) and research, I'm very pleased at the current growth rate of the nation once again... as for the SS, they're the muscle of the Third Reich and Hitler's Germany: Formed in several major SS-Panzercorps: Hausser, Model and others command the "backbone" of the future invasion.

aggghck, even research, are you that tight on money (and rare materials?)
you already teched up to the agriculture'45- tech? Man of the people minister would also come handy IMO, as germany isnt really tight on IC when compared to MP. :(

Bearing in mind there is an ocean of Russian soldiers to kill, a would-be assassin is a good election, methinks. :D

@ Laurwin: Tight on money revenue at this time, not so much rare materials though, I have a good "handful" of that stuff ca. 6k. On the other hand money wise, yah, umm. (-3.2) per day doesn't exactly work out in my favor. Due the math $232 (-3.2 per) doesn't last that long. All research but a new wave of capital ships (Advanced Super Battleships or whatever its called), other than that no research, now at a (+ 0.7) per day and yes I have researched the all the way up to the '45 Production, a good thing right now otherwise MP would be killing me.

@ Kurt_Steiner: More like a giant 'Crimson Wall' of soldiers infront of me :D , but in regards to other matters, would the rest of Germany agree with you with a would-be assassin?

@ Enewald: Prisoners, criminals and more...

... As for the Russians, what about the 12 division-strong Russian Liberation Armee, surely they will play a pivital role against this crusade against Communism! I hope... (Commanded by: von Tippelskirch or something like that, I just don't like Vlassov as a leader of a major force for some reason?)

Wow! The situation in Germany isn't good at all... I suppose Hitler is rather furious at the lack of research, re-armament, the military and to top it off, he's still angry at the assassination attempt.

I have the feeling that Strause and Pelzer are going to become good friends in their invasion of Russia, whenever that will be?

"Peter?"

No answer, the scene is pitch black.

"Peter?"

"What?" mumbles a tired Peter Strause.

"Panzers are on the move, so is the Luftwaffe."

"Luftwaffe? Willy are you alright?"

"Look for yourself," said Wilhelm, pointing up to the skies.

Overhead a marvolous and amazing display of German planes circled over head on the nearby road across the forest a German Armoured Collumn moved forward with much haste. There was great news from the south, 170,000 Soviet soldiers were captured during the Battle of Kracow and the German Southern Flank, now commanded by Field Marshal Ringel and his Italien Armee solidified the Southern Polish Front from further Russian troubles. With this news, the German High Command picked up their Winter Offensive and began to press on Russian-held Warsaw and the nearby cities and towns in an attempt to distrupt the Russians Logistical efforts.

Field Marshal von von Tippelskirch looked from the inside of his car and in his winter dress uniform looked at the many Russian Liberation solidiers and German Panzergrenadiers moving through the blizzard and harsh blistering weather. He looked back at his subidornate commander, General Andrei Vlassov sitting behind him and to the left.

"Mein gott, its so beautiful. I thought I would never see something like this out of our armies ever again," a tear falls from von Tippelskirch's eye. From behind, Vlassov merely smiles at the German Field Marshal.

The sounds of a thousand soldiers' boots and tracks of hundreds of tanks and halftracks thunder through the Polish woodlands to their forward destination points, the Russians have no idea of what is about to hit them. In their line, Peter Strause and Wilhelm Pelzer walk pass the German Field Marshal and Russian Liberation General, they look at one another and begin to talk about their thoughts about the two men, Strause protests against both Vlassov and von Tippelskirch, underneath his breathe ofcourse. The sides are lined with vehicles with all markings.

"Do you have any idea where we're going Peter?"

"Your guess is just as good as mine. To be honest, no one is saying much but something big is about to happen, things like this just don't happen for show."

"What about fortifying the front?"

Peter laughs, "Be honest, look at everyone's face. A big thing is about to occur in the next few days or weeks..."

"And in the winter months, you must be crazy."

"Willy, believe me when I say this, I say this as a friend who deeply cares about you. All hell is about brake loose in a few days...

... The Liberation of Russia has begun."

And so it begins, the days that all of our fathers will remember, the day the Nazi Germany defied all odds, the day that the Russian Communist Horde would have its final test. The Battle of Warsaw has begun, the Liberation of Russia is now moments away...

Enewald said:
Wait, is the russian capital in Warsaw?
Or do you have a huge pocket there?

There will be a large pocket in Warsaw in the future.

@ 30-45 divisions. Russian Capital is still so far away... at the moment at the very least.

Yah! The Invasion of Russia and the gigantic showdown of the giants is about to begin... now you have the fate of Germany in your... I mean (Hitler's) hand.
