I must really aggree with you on this. Heroes Square is a very impressive monument - especially in the evening with all the lights turned on.

Btw Budapest is a fantastic city and so are the girls :). (sidenote)

Budapest is in all aspects worth a visit.

Well, hungarian history is interesting:)
Few questions:
1.Where are the castle Hunedoara and palace Visegrad located
2. How was Ilona Szilagy related to Mathias Corvinus
3.I have asked this before but no one answered:
Was the father of Mathias Corvinus Janos Hunyadi?

3.I have asked this before but no one answered:
There were some rumours about Mathias Corvinus being the eligimate son of Janos Hunyadi. Were these rumours just some anti-hungarian propaganda or was there any truth in them?

Lets see:

1. Castle of Hunyadvár is in today Roumania (at the southern stretches of the Carpathian mountains, quite a picturesque renesainnce castle) whereas the castle of Visegrád is situated about 35 km north of Budapest at a hill-top, next to the Danube. There is superb view from the top, and one can really imagine why they have built it there.

2. I am not aware of an Ilona Szilágyi, but perhaps You were thinking of Erzsébet Szilágyi who was the mother of Mátyás Hunyady (Corvinus)

3. As far as I know there is absolutly no reason to doubt that János Hunyady was the father of Mátyás, maybe You heard the rumours rather about János Hunyady being a bastard of the Hungarian King Zsigmond (Sigismund also HRE). These rumours were certainly circleing around (perhaps even encouriged by Hunyady himself) as he really rose very quickly to success, given the fact that he did not belong to an old noble family. But there is probably nothing to it.

Hope this partly answers Your questions.

Thanks,
2.I have the family tree of Vlad Draculas descendants from his second marriage and it mentions his wife as: "Ilona Szilagy, relative of Matthias Corvinus."
3.Now when I think about it, I think it was the rumours about Hunyadi being Zsigmonds bastard son, I got these two things mixed.
