After digging deeper and deeper into the depths of the web i found this, "semi-intact" vehicle. Aside from the "minor" damage, why didnt paradox decide to go with this for example? This existed (at one point even in one piece) and would fit the theme with the other rocket artillery ingame a bit better. After searching the web for a bit, i couldnt find any pictures of truck-mounted wurfrahmen 40. They were either tank or halftrack mounted, which doesnt fit in the game due to sp rocket artillery being motorized and not mechanized of course.

nbwontruckwissembourg.jpg

Dont get me wrong, i am fine and happy with the free content and this is not a complaint, just would be nice to know why you decided to go for something rather ahistorical rather than something like this that would also fit better into the theme with the other MRE trucks. Afterall, the wurfrahmen fires 320mm rockets compared to 150mm that the nebelwerfer 41 fires, while the BM-13 katjuscha did fire 132mm and the T-27 did fire 114mm rockets for example. Since they will do the same damage ingame, it would be a bit more logical to go for something similar like the nebelwerfer in my oppinion.

Anyway, good job to the artist(s) that made this and thank you paradox for making this decision for the people that missed the sign up campaign. :)

If I had done this sign up campaign, I'd be really upset by this. I go out of my way normally to try to get exclusive things that other people can't get later so it was a really tempting thing. So i'm really glad I decided not to participate in this one. There needs to be MORE ways to earn exclusive stuff not available to people generally, not less.

Why you think there needs to be more ways to earn exclusive stuff? Especially on something like this sign-up campaign that didn't cost any money, and barely any effort? And specially for game content, I think it should have at most timed exclusivity, but later being available for all, sometimes as a cost. For example, a pre-order bonus you get by pre-ordering with no additional cost, but that later would be available to all at an extra cost.

Timed Exclusives are ridiculous. They devalue the commodity. If they want me to spend my time and effort to help them market their product I want something in return for it. Giving me something that someone else can buy later makes it less valuable because I know that other people can obtain it.

This is a childish and rather selfish attitude towards these things. You're already getting it for free; but no, you want nobody else to have it too. You sound just like a kid on the playground going "Nya, nya! I got it but you didn't!"

And please; explain to me what kind of time and effort you're putting in to "market" a product when you pre-order it or do one of these little sign-up campaigns. I'd really like to know...

... ermmmm... are we still talking about a few megabytes of cosmetic DLC or did we switch to the topic of life partner?

We've been thinking it over, and individual in-game content rewards are probably not the way we'll go in the future.

Because when Stellaris released, it turned out there were a lot of people interested in the game that didn't notice the signup campaign. Then when the game launched (and the signup was no longer available, obviously) they couldn't get it anymore. They were upset. We thought there is no reason to exclude anyone from this content.

Lots of win here, great stuff Team HoI4 .

That said, while not wanting to devalue the artists work (the models do look great), the canvas-covered truck firing rockets does look a little odd. That be some mighty tough canvas! Even if the canvas was taken off the truck and the flatbed covered in some kind of metal box (I'm trying to think of a quick and easy fix, beyond having to redo a lot of the modelling). That said, it's all cosmetic, so I'm not overly worried about it.

So just for clarification - it's just sprites on the map (that won't even matter if I prefer counters), there's no actual changes to the technology tree or the actual models developed through production etc.? Thinking this for the pre-order as well - it's all just sprites, right?
Just sprites. :)

Thank you @BjornB. This was a very good move on your guys' part. Exclusive things should be icons and avatars, etc. Game content should be available to everyone, one way or another.

Thank you so much! Also saw the same done for Stellaris. Best developer ever!

Thank you so much for these and also for the Stellaris sign up stuff that I would never have got simply because I never found out about Sellaris until I came to the forum to find out information on HOI IV :)

Though I have nothing against sharing, they should pay a new mouse to the people who clicked 125 000+ times for Stellaris mini-game.

So does a division that contains rocket artillery automatically have this sprite? I am a little bit confused on how the game decides which sprite it shows ingame, like infantry guy, tank, etc.

each equipment type has a scripted weight for how important it is. so artillery types weigh in heavier than infantry say and if you got enough (doesnt need to be a majority) it will change the 3d model.

It's just sprites.

Forum icons are getting a bit out of control. Three for one release, twice in a row?

Before we only gave one for the version you bought. But some people thought the lower ones looked better than the higher ones, and even though they wanted the bigger pack, they contemplated buying the lower one just for the sake of the icon. In my folly I thought most people would only want to show one of the icons anyway and hide the others. But it seems people like to show off all of them. Not sure how to get around this to be honest :/

And people commenting on the choice of models etc etc. This was meant as an extremely minor DLC only for people in the signup campaign. That's why it was kind of low key items. If we've decided to put really cool and heavy weight stuff in there and it was only available during signup and never again, imagine the outrage :) We did think THAT far ahead when we planned this at least. Rest assured that we're gonna release more models in the future. We also released the Maya exporter so that everyone not happy with how we depicted certain tanks, vehicles and whatnot can do their own corrections without impacting the checksum so they can still play ironman/MP etc.

the standard upon activation is that you display them all, you could make it so that the standard is to only display the highest version you bought keeping the option to turn on/off the icons in the pack at will. Not everyone would bother to turn them all on if they had to do something (although I can imagine many still would).

With an opinion like this you just devalued yourself as a decent human being.

To cry out because everyone gets the same and to find that unfair is a seriously bad character trait (-50% leadership in game for you! Now you got your own DLC)
