Spending 8 hours on Saturday with my new Ottoman Ironman game, where everything is going great.
Boot up the game on Sunday, load my save game and discover that I had forgot to turn on Ironman-mode the previous day.

Leaving a late ironman game to make a coffee thinking it's on a pause and coming back to see that it was not, the war with coalition is going, and half of your empire captured...
Feeding my CN in Central America too fast and wondering if I have any chance of helping them against the 200k rebels that had popped up, with my 50k max forcelimits.

if you can play as provence and survive france then surely genoa can do the same
especially since provence is like one of the best provinces in the game
Me Surviving like 30 years as Köln (Cologne), i was to optimistic about how much land i could take... Ok i didnt even get a huge coalition against me but Austria inherited the Nederlands so they then boardered me and the rest is history
Ironically in my more recent Tuscany game I grabbed Provence early (it was a really easy grab) and had no problems, even with the aggressive expansion. It was only after I took the rest of northern Italy that France broke alliance and went hostile, because mission.
My worst screw up was really awful on my part. I was trying to punch a hole in France, but it wasn't my war and they'd been stomped so fast their length of war and ally in war modifiers were high enough I couldn't get much. I really want to make sure I can grab land in a separate peace because I know England (war leader) will be knocking on its lost cores (and war reparations of course) before anything goes to me. Suddenly, checking the peace deal, I click click click down all these cores to release and France will totally accept it, so I send the deal, and promptly release all my conquered foreign cores because I switched to offering instead of demanding and am an idiot who forgets what he owns.

I've lost ships at sea before, often with a costly explorer on them, I've not lost a whole fleet though. Take troops off the sidebar, and leave navies there, it's easy to see when one is stationary that way. You can always add the troops back on when absolutely necessary.
My latest mistake is going to war with England, forgetting that I had territory on mainland England and not putting troops there to start, and subsequently suffering much attrition landing in one of their provinces instead. Other than that, play at a slower speed when you are actually doing things, speed 3 is for when I am not doing much, and 5 for those boring non war periods. Proper message settings with pop up and pause save you a lot of grief, if you have the patience to have them set that way.

Decide to cheese as Austria. Got 4 reforms in 20 years. Get a PU over Hungary. Get a PU over France, fighting Savoy . Laughing. Dreams of WC. DOW on anhalt. Turns out I broke a truce. Ulm decides to DOW on me. Laughing, never had that happen. They cite "coalition" as their CB. 250k in 1466. Decide to be a sport about it. Fight for 2 months. Decide to cheese it and revoke an imperial reform to make the headstomping go away. Ruler dies 3 months after humiliating peace. Bohemia is emperor. France DOW's on me for independence. So does Hungary.
I wish there was an option to have your ships automatically return to port when they reach some percentage of health. 50% or whatever. Even better if that percentage could vary depending on how long the journey home was and if it was via coastal or ocean squares.
I managed to sic pretty much the whole of Europe on me trying to play a highly aggressive Venice that seized the Balkans and pretty much half of Hungary within twenty years. In my defence and eternal glory I actually won the first containment war alongside my sole ally Aragon (and sank the English navy in the Venetian lagoon with nothing but galleys and light ships) but then Austria declared war in the second and it was pretty much all over.
Want to vassal Brandenburg (allied to Bohemia) with my ally Magdeburg. Beat both up, seperated Bohemias peace.
Occupied all provinces except capital, was done by Magdeburg. Total warscore of Brandenburg 96%. War was won, setting up peace deal.
Very happy about the good start and my new big vassal:
