It's my 3rd or 4th Empire I've stuck with and thought I was getting it. I started good taking my 1st neighbors space early on. But then in the next war I wasted at least 2 defensive wars defending an ally I didn't realize or forgot to set war goals. I otherwise wasn't in a rush and could have pushed the 2nd war more quickly. So I had 1 neighbors space and half of anothers. Whose people were wasteful and solitary. Settings are 1.5 habitable planets, medium galaxy. I've got a good few dozen planets and dumped a few new fresh colonies straight into sectors (is that bad?) plus 4 planets at a time from conquest filled with wasteful hateful pops. Between these new colonies, the pops and moving my ships into combat materials go from +350 to +150. 779 for ships and 550 consumer goods. Energy is over +300 when moving. Energy was the last thing I lacked and must have over compensated. Feel like I lost a lot of mats dropping my specialized mining planets into sectors too. Fleet at time of invasion 90k. Fleet cap at 1000 currently using 900 or so. Mostly battleships with tachyon, flak and gaus. Though know i need to trade gaus for lasers, hangars or kinetic artillery which I'll unlock soon. Thats the situation.
So the scourge. They're spawning 16k 1st wave and 60k fleets thereafter. So it should be doable. I wasn't speced out for them and involved in a war when invaded and they dropped right next to me. It seemed they came quick after i got any warning. I can save scum to an hour before and avoid the other war and put up outposts sealing my outer edges though there'll still be 2 places they can spawn close by and only 1 ideal spot further away. I can maybe lay out 2 more outposts but may have to go war to place one of them but then can delete all the outposts once the scourge begin. I should be able to hold out at least and if i can shift them to land elsewhere and let them take 20% until the sentinals and maybe others will help out. I think a fallen empire woke up but hasn't done anything. It's a pacifist watcher AE. Not sure if I should just consolidate what i have and focus on minerals or continue to colonize the systems already in my borders while i continue to build up.
I tested them out with my unspeced fleet. I'll have to stay nimble and ramp up but could take 1-2 or thier 60k at a time. Just mulling whether I have much chance or need to be preparing for this feverishly from the beginning. I think it's close enough to try. I'm tempted to start a no crisis just FE playthrough. I did go back to my last empire after being demoralized by the Swarm but i hadn't activated the leviathan dlc then and had no crisis or FE turned on either.
