Will events fire if they have the same id? Or only the "first in the list" (judged by pc) will run? Will number go to sleep after such event fires thus making other event go to sleep too, or only the specific event will go to sleep, making it possible for the other with the same id to fire?
Thanx.

Normally you get an error while loading the game when using the same IDs for more several events....there's a little tool by PackMan around somewhere here that let's you quickly check what IDs are still free, btw.

That'd be very helpful.

it will, and it works. I've made and played them myself ;) Yea, with errors, but it loads. I was just not sure what events would fire. Hm, PackMan's tool sounds interesting, should be here on forums?

Yeah, I just can't find the thread. And I didn't see it on ModHOI, his site....maybe you guys PM him?

I would recommend greping the event files for the ID in question.

yes, i know about event files. But event id's problem comes up if you put together event files from several mods. I just want to know about firing those events. If in the end all events will fire, then why have trouble with checking and changing hundreds of events id's.

They won't; only the first one read will be used.

Allow me to reveal you the 3rd mantra of the Database religion :

An uniq identifier (an integer always you will choose) you will use for each and every row/events.

It can be translated IRL, by the security social you have (it's yours and not mine, whatever your country, race, religion ......).

So if you have 2 events with the same ID, the first one (and here the word first must be understood as the first the program can pick up) will show up, the second (or third) will never pop up.

What I do say is UTTERLY true for any flat DB, relational DB or even Oracle

Oh yes, you can choose ignore. :) But however they can't work both, don't they ?
No, the second one (i.e., the one that caused the error to pop up) won't fire...not sure what order the events are loaded.

thanks, thats what i was asking for. So, both events with the same id will go to sleep. thanx!
Well, no...
One (the second) will have never been active (that's why the error pops up).

hm, first will go to sleep because it has fired, the second will go to sleep without firing, because the first one had fired. Right? If only the first one goes to sleep, could the second one fire become *active* and fire? Some say no, some seem to say yes :p
