Started a game with Poland and set my first goal as obtaining Poland de Jure lands. The first step would be to take over Pomerania before the HRE feels like grabbing it, but I kind of like having my land borders attached. I declare war on the Tribe of Pomerania with the goal of obtaining Stettin...
... and witness a 3PM Tribe field an army comparable to pretty much the entire levy Poland can muster. After the initial shock I beat them back and proceed to rout them around the area for the next year or so, finally getting around to sieging and stuff. In the end the desired province has been obtained.
After waiting a while for my vassals to stop complaining about me using their troops (which have been sitting comfortably in their respective home provinces for quite a while before the last discontent noble decided to stop nagging me
), I set my eyes on Wolgast. I declare war, start mustering troops... And see a nearly 6k army march into Poland and proceed to beat the living carp out of everything in its way.
My question is this - is it WaD for pagan tribes to field armies so large the HRE is afraid to approach them?
