Cities skylines 2 is coming and I think it's time to make a specific design choice to make an entire type of mod redundant.
This is the perfect opportunity to start the game off with a simple road designer. Roads in this type of game are basically a type of spline. So other than width, the lengths are inherently going to be pretty arbitrary. By letting us design our own roads the devs can focus on giving different aesthetics for the roads while we make the type of roads we need. I would also make pedestrian paths and pedestrian roads simply equivalent to a single sidewalk as a road or two sidewalks side by side.
It seems to me like it would be wise to make a road designer that works like this:
I spent 3 days on it, enjoy.

It seems to me like it would be wise to make a road designer that works like this:
- You have a simple tool window where you can build your own road.
- The Road will automatically centre in the middle.
- On each side there would be a little + sign to select an additional lane.
- You could add a road lane, a bike lane, a bus lane, or a pedestrian lane.
- One pedestrian lane is a path, two is a pedestrian road.
- New lane options: Carpool lane, specialty lane for one specific service or bus route, local destination only lane, toll lane, even a rail lane could run perpendicular.
- You could even select non usable aesthetic lanes, medians, trees, plant pots, small canal, etc.
- Finally simply select your roads speed. Either for the whole segment or just a specific lane.
I spent 3 days on it, enjoy.
