Hi everybody!
Something really strange just happend in my Sweden game:

Bohemia is a republic and is ruled by a norweigan from Jämtland.

I was doing the usual crusading in the Holy Land and noticed that Bohemia was doing really well. They had conquered 4 provinces in the Holy Land(one beeing Jerusalem which was the target of the crusade). They managed to hold these provinces for a while but, eventually got into a war with Egypt which completly overan them and took all of their possesions in Palestine. I thought that was the end of the matter but, Bohemia refused to make peace with the egyptians even after several years had passed. Bohemias crusader possesions continued to belong to them even though they were all occupied by the egyptians.

I noticed something strange had happend to Bohemia when I saw this:

Bohemia now holds Jerusalem again and the rest of their crusader empire has been divided between Norway and Germany.

I was really confused how this could have happend so I searched through the log and found an atleast partial answer. The king of Norway had apperntly defeated the king of Bohemia in a war quite soundly and taken the crown of Bohemia and a lot of other titles including Bohemias crusader possesions.

This change of ownership had apperntly made the egyptians lose control of Bohemias former possesions. The king seems to have later handed out the provinces to his vassals. But, this still does not explain why he gave the the bohemian king title away to some random guy from Jämtland with no parents and why that guy made the country into a republic. And how on Earth did the Germans get involved in this?:D

Edit: Inserted the wrong picture. The actual proof that they are a republic is posted now

That's so cool!
My best guess is that the King of Norway gave the king title of Bohemia to the his vassal, Jamtland which happens to be a republic.

Yeah that may be it. I didn't know Jämtland was a republic in CK but, I guess it might be. Wiki says that Jämtland was something of a pesant republic during the middle ages so that seems right. The Jämtlandic republic resurfaced during the 20th centuary by the way, but they are a vassal of Sweden. :D http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Jamtland

Or maybe a duke-level republic conquered the Sheikdom of Bohemia and 'crown itself king'?

I just used "print screen" and pasted the resulting image in paint. I don't know if it exsist any other way to take screenshots ingame.

or simply press F11. After that look for the pic in your game directory. It's a whole lot easier that way.

Is it possible to code events that would do that? i.e. Does the event code even support government type changes?

A friend of mine apparently once got the papacy to become hereditary (this was pre-1.05 at least, probably pretty soon after the original release of CK probably) by having some church educated heir become pope and then inherit his realm. King of xxxxx and Papal State. Probably not possible these days anymore, likely some sort of bug anyway.

That can't happen now. The Pope can't inherit anything.

There is another way to get the title. You have to destroy the Papacy, and let it be recreated. Due to a bug it will be a Count level-title, so you can force vassalize the new pope, and scheme to get a claim on his title.
