So the artifacts are the best bet at fighting the swarm, and the Soviets aren't as advanced as who I assume are the Fourth Reich... Fantastic. The Space Nazis have better tech and the Soviets, the ones with some of the desperately needed tools, are going to be stomped.

That's basically the situation we are in. :p

Ah, so that's why humans from another galaxy appeared. Nothing like a giant alien invasion from another galaxy bringing everyone together. :D

True, we humans don't get along with one another unless we have something like this uniting us. :p

Wel,now its about to go down. They have to stop the swarm or its all over for everyone, Soviet, Reich and Pelx alike.

Well, not everyone is against the swarms.

Chapter 77

Akilina was barely conscious but she was aware that she was carried into another ship. She remembered the pursuit of the Pelx corvettes which were surprisingly faster than their ship. The pilot of their stolen ship assumed that the pursuing Pelx ships were modified to maximize their speed which was giving them the edge in the chase. The extra edge allowed them to catch up before the stolen ship could reach Earth.

The pursuing ships fired at the stolen ships once they were in range and the stolen ship was taking serious damage. The ship was never meant to withstand such heavy firepower as her outer hull was already crumbling under pressure. What could have been a simple escape suddenly backfired due to the persistence of the Pelx. Akilina and the others were certain they would meet their doom with Soviet ships arriving too late to rescue them.

Suddenly, there was a large shock wave that knocked everyone out. Everyone in the stolen ship collapsed as they blacked out while the pursuing ship also stopped firing. An unknown ship had appeared onto scene and she was the source of the first missile which essentially disabled all the ships and their crew. Next, the ship proceeded to taking out the Pelx ships until only the stolen ship remained intact in the vicinity.

To say the stolen ship was intact was putting it generously since the damage it sustained was serious. The crew of the unknown ship boarded the stolen ship and carried all of its crew and passengers aboard their ship. Before the last person of the unknown ship left, he left detonating charged aboard the ship to ensure that the ship would be destroyed as opposed to serving as debris that could be an obstacles to any ships traveling in the vicinity.

The unknown ship kept a wide birth from the stolen ship before the charges were activated. The ship burst into an explosion that was quickly engulfed by the darkness of space. There was no sign of a battle, if one could call it that, happening in these parts and only a selected few would know what happened. Akilina and the others aboard the stolen ship were all placed in the medical bay of the unknown ship where they were treated for any injuries they might have suffered.

Chapter 78

The Ubl commander was giving orders to be relayed to his fellow aliens in preparation against the unexpected threat that descended upon them. It was another simple day for the Ubl empire in the far edges of the galaxy until the commander learned some of his ships were attacked. The empire had started as a small civilization on a planet but, upon unlocking technology to not only travel in space but also colonize other planets, they expanded rapidly over the next few centuries.

The Ubl empire maintained a strong military but their fleets were largely used for self defense and peacekeeping missions. All of the Ubl expansions were peaceful, either through colonization or the integration of smaller alien nations wishing for the protection of the Ubl. The Ubl fleet had never been used in the past since no one threatened the alien empire but the recent unexpected arrival of hostile forces changed all that.

A patrol was along the outer rims when they were attacked by what appeared as organic ships. Lacking in firepower, nearly the entire patrol was decimated in the sudden attack. The survivors of the engagement raised the alarm seeing the Bul commander assemble his forces at once to deal with this threat at hand. All the Ubl fleets were deployed to the last known location of the organic ships.

The Ubl fleet had both the numerical advantage and superior firepower which saw them crushing the invaders with ease. Just as the Ubl commander was relaxing, he was informed by Ubl scientists that what they faced was likely just a vanguard for the enemy. They apparently managed to tie the subspace signals they were receiving over the last year or so to the vanguard which the Ubl fleet faced.

The only problem was they were receiving more of the subspace signals but, this time, the intensity was several times the magnitude compared to the earlier subspace signals. Some of the scientists would put the magnitude at around a thousand times and this was a conservative estimate. It certainly didn't help that they were receiving a number of these signals of such large magnitudes which likely spelled doom for the Ubl empire.

If the Ubl have been peacefully expanding for ages, they probably have a respectable economic base to build a powerful fleet on. The question is: will they be able to stand up to the invading monstrocities, and if so can they save the rest of the galaxy in the process please? :p

Chapter 79

Mikhail wanted desperately to watch over his wife in the medical bay but he knew he had duties to perform as the Overlord of the Soviet Republic. The diplomacy between the Soviet Republic and the Pelx Coalition was certainly a complicated one but all indications pointed to an inevitable conflict between the two sides. The Soviets did nothing to provoke this conflict but they were faced with no other choice.

Seeing how the Pelx sent some of their corvettes traveling deep in space considered Soviet Republic territory, it was obvious that they cared little about the attitude of the Soviets towards them. While a war could end the Soviets for good, Mikhail could see no alternatives to the situation when it was the Pelx who were hostile towards his people. He could only order the military capacity of his Republic strengthened and hoped to weather the incoming storm.

There was also the matter of the defectors from the Fourth Reich. He and his officials hadn't been able to interrogate the defectors but they got a general picture that the Fourth Reich was basically destroyed by the Pelx as they spoke. Afterwards, there was without a doubt that the Pelx coalition would turn their sights on Earth as their next intended target to eliminate other complex lifeforms.

During the brief conversation with the leader of the defectors, Klaus, Mikhail also learned that alien artifacts were of great importance. Apparently, his wife was in possession of one of them which was likely the reason why she had to go into hiding by fleeing on the Nobel. What shocked him more was the two alien artifacts possessed by the defectors which they were willing to give in return for being given full citizen rights in the Soviet Republic.

Most of what was shared made no sense to Mikhail but he still put his best thinkers into making a report of everything they were told. He had a feeling the defectors weren't lying about anything but he did question their timing of defection. After all, how could he guarantee them protection when he couldn't be certain if his fleet could even take on the Pelx invading fleet which might already be on its way towards Earth.

There's more to Klaus than you suspect. :p

Interesting.

:)

Totally no foul play going on here whatsoever, I have no idea what you're talking about, glorious Soviet Union forever (Vierriech über alles)

?

Now if only these invaders ran into a fallen empire. That would stall their invasion.

I wonder how a fallen empire fares against the swarm in the actual game. :p

Chapter 80

Klaus studied those who were traveling with Akilina and Marc. He wasn't exactly trusting of them and neither were the Soviets since they were basically stuck in the same room with those from the Fourth Reich. The room was comfortable with food, drinks and basic accommodations provided but, to Klaus, all this wasn't really different from being locked in a nice cell where, regardless of the state, he was still trapped.

He could understood why the Soviets were treating him and his comrades this way. After all, Fourth Reich ships were sent to destroy the Nobel which was enough reason for them to bitterly hate the Fourth Reich. The fact that the Soviets didn't execute them on sight was a good sign of the Soviets willing to give others a second chance and the accommodations meant they were more forgiving overall.

In the relatively large room, the two parties sat at opposite ends not trusting the other side. While Klaus and Katarina kept an eye out, the other side had two of their own remaining alert. Despite rescuing them from the pursuing Pelx, Klaus and his group were getting no thanks of gratitude. As the four humans awake were having their staring contests, the others were taking advantage of the time to rest up and recover their strength.

Klaus did note the armor worn by the unidentified party and found them familiar for whatever reason. Before he could try finding why he found familiarity, the door to the room opened with the entry of the Overlord of the Soviet Republic. The four of them turned at once to give the man their full attention because they knew that they wouldn't benefit one bit by antagonizing the man.

The Overlord introduced himself as Mikhail and first thanked the two parties for what they did. Both parties saved his wife and, for that, he was grateful. With a potential Pelx invasion incoming, he said he didn't want to waste time discussing nonessential matters. He wanted to know how the two parties could benefit him in the defense of Earth against the aliens who possessed far greater military strength.

Ah, so they have to prove their usefulness to the Soviet Republic. I'm not sure if I want them to succeed or fail.

I was just pointing out that it looked awfully suspicious. And my German is virtually non-existant, so I assume Vierriech über alles means "The Fourth Reich above all" (The only word I'm not sure about because I made it up is Vierriech after the german word for 4 and Reich)

Maybe success since we have the swarm to worry about. :p

I was thrown off by Vierriech so I have no clue what it meant. :p

Chapter 81

The Ubl commander was shocked to see the number of ships the enemy had thrown at them. Sadly, his side was dwindling as they couldn't possibly rival the enemy forces which seemed to be entering their sector with no end to their numbers. The Ubl commander organized an emergency meeting with the top Ubl officials to discuss their final option before they were completely overwhelmed by their enemies.

What was left of the Ubl fleet was making a final stand but they weren't expected to last indefinitely against the swarm. If anything, they weren't even expected last another hour in the face of adversity. The Ubl commanded needed approval from the Ubl officials quickly or who knew what their fate might be. The meeting lasted a few minutes and the Ubl commander was thankful they were supportive of this last ditch effort to save their people.

Some tests were done on the samples they acquired from enemy space debris and they were horrified to see the cells infesting any other living cells if given a chance. The Ubl scientists were certain that, if overwhelmed, their people were likely to be infested until they became a part of the swarm. This was a fate none of the Ubl wanted happening so the commander had to use the last desperation plan his ancestors hoped would never be approved.

The plan involved the five primary planets of the Ubl which boasted the highest population in the entire Ubl sector. The planets were very well developed but they all had a hidden secret deep underground that was known only to a selected few for each generation. The Ubl commander was one of the few along with the top Ubl officials to possess this knowledge. Seeing that their demise was inevitable, they chose to use this secret rather than become servants of the swarm.

Hidden in the core of the five planets were five devices that looked like hollowed out tubes. One of them differed from the rest in that it had various other parts attached to the tube which required enormous amount of energy to activate. Once activated, the five devices would work together until they unleashed their destructive power on the swarm. The Ubl commander hoped they had enough time to put the plan in motion.

So the swarm can take over those they fear to overrun... we'll need a lot of nukes to deal with them.

I'm pretty sure nukes don't work if they could conquer so many galaxies. :p

Chapter 82

Katarina said that she had valuable intelligence which could help the Soviet Republic in her fight against the Pelx wishing the Soviets harm. She also wished to remind Mikhail that the Germans had certainly played a role in saving his wife and possibly saved the entire galaxy too. The Overlord of the Soviet Republic was certainly puzzled by the latter half of the claim and he asked Katarina to clarify.

Unaware that the Soviets were so poorly informed, Katarina spoke of the Prethoryn Swarm which was credited for the destruction of numerous galaxy. She explained the swarm looked to infest all planets and those they came in contact. The exact origin of the swarm was unknown but the Fourth Reich was aware of its existence and, sadly, some of its members were actually supportive of the swarm.

When asked what she meant by supportive, Katarina stated that there were those who wished to join the swarm believing that infestation was their destiny. She and those with her had no intentions of being anything other than human so they naturally kept their berth from the others in the Fourth Reich. This, ironically, also ensured their survival since their facility wasn't targeted by the Pelx until possibly a much later time.

She then proceeded to explaining how the alien artifacts were the keys to defeating the swarm. How the artifacts could accomplish that was something even the Fourth Reich weren't aware of. They only knew the eight artifacts must be gathered together for them to work as intended. Luckily for the Soviets, Katarina had two alien artifacts which meant they were almost halfway to gathering what was necessary.

During this entire time, the other party responsible for the rescue of Akilina and Marc in the Pelx spaceport remained silent as they listened to what was being said by the German defectors. The leader of the group did nod a few times in acknowledgement of what was being said but he didn't bother elaborating. Instead, he kept his eyes on Klaus and was studying the man who was preoccupied with the conversation between Katarina and Mikhail.

Those Nazis that join the swarm are traitors to the Reich. Infestation clearly destroys all racial purity and will bring an end to the Aryan race. :D
