oooh, visions. I wonder what those factories are producing... Cylons? Terminators? Plates? the world may never know.

But we will know ... eventually. :p

I wonder if she's having a vision of how the mysterious cubes are made.

We'll know in the foreseeable future. :)

Caught up again. So we have space nazis, alien assistance for the Soviets and visions of alien worlds. I think I'll just sit back and wait for things to start making more sense :p

You're assuming my plot actually makes sense. :p

Chapter 64

The city had been eerily quiet except for the sound of machines doing whatever they were doing. Lacking any tools, Akilina had no way of knowing what was going on within the factory walls. The streets also seemed very clean like there were few, if any, inhabitants who lived here. If there were any, she hadn't seen signs of anyone being present. In a way, she felt like this city was abandoned.

There were a large number of factories in the city without a single soul in sight. Normally, Akilina would be terrified of being trapped in such a location without knowing where she was or what danger might exist. She had been taught at a young age the importance of gathering intelligence about one's environment and enemies to greatly improve one's chances of survival in what might be a hostile territory.

The key was speed since, the longer one spent gathering intelligence, the more time one's enemies could take advantage. The problem with her current setting was the lack of intelligence she could gather. The factories looked very bland outside and were practically the same sizes. No markings of any sort could be seen to differentiate the factories and, without a way of entry, she knew pretty much nothing.

Despite contact with a stranger or alien being not optimal, Akilina felt she could learn more about this city even if she could observe an inhabitant from a distance. She had no luxury in a city where she seemed to be the only one present. It was only near the end of her exploration of the city that she discovered some faint tire marks that led towards the other doorway of the city.

Akilina was about to follow the tire marks to find more answers when she was wakened up by Marc. The room was still dark and Marc had a finger to his mouth. She scanned the room but she could see close to nothing in the darkness. She allowed Marc to lead her to the hallway which was deserted at the moment. Marc then passed her a note and, upon reading it under the faint lighting, she had a shocked expression.

Well, it's not like they have any alternatives to fixing their ship. :p

That would be a weird vision indeed. :p

Chapter 65

Klaus remembered the moments when no one in the building had anymore ammunition for their weapons. The choke point was piled with enemy corpses but there seemed no end to the Soviets who were pushing relentlessly despite the losses they were taking. In those moments, Klaus wondered if the Soviets were even human with them sending wave after wave of men to their deaths until his squad finally ran out of ammunition.

Without ammunition, everyone had to use what they perceived as effective melee weapons to fend for as long as they could. They doubted they could last long against the hordes of Soviet soldiers that were pouring into the city but they were staring in the face of death regardless of what choice they made. Being captured was probably the worst outcome so it was better to go down fighting.

Klaus thought about his loved ones in the moments leading up to the next wave of Soviet soldiers who were thirsty for blood. He was about to charge in with the others when he noticed a bright light behind him. He first thought this was a grenade of some sort but there was no shockwave that sent him flying towards the Soviet soldiers. Instead, he felt himself engulfed by the light before feeling nothing.

The other German soldiers were too busy fighting the enemy to notice this and the Soviets naturally thought it was a blast from a grenade. No German soldier survived this wave of Soviet infantry allowing the Soviets to make more progress in the city of Berlin where their final objective was the leader of the German regime. None of them even had a second thought about the German soldier who simply vanished.

If the top Soviet officials even paid any attention to their reports, they would have known the unnaturally bright light was seen at multiple enemy positions. These positions were basically the machine nests for the Germans where they established their final line of defense at the choke points. Oddly enough, only a few selected German soldiers vanished due to the light itself with most of those at the nests meeting their end.

That will be answered later. :p

Chapter 66

Klaus rubbed his head as he sat up from a bed. His eyes took a few minutes to adjust to the dark room before he tried to stand. His feet were shaking but he managed to take a few steps forward towards what appeared to be a door. When he placed his hand on the door, it opened automatically which surprised him. Wherever he was, Klaus was certain those in charge knew about him waking up.

The hallway was dimly lit and the walls seemed unlike anything in Berlin or in Germany in general. It seems far too futuristic to be developed by the Third Reich which puzzled Klaus further as to where he was at. The light wasn't natural and Klaus was the only one in his room. He could only pick a direction and proceed forward in search of more answers. A door then suddenly opened beside him startling him.

A beautiful woman walked out of the room wearing a similar uniform as him. She too looked a little dazed but, upon seeing him, she seemed to regain her composure. She introduced herself as Katarina and asked him if he too was engulfed in a bright light before waking in a room. The two of them talked a bit only to find they had many things in common regarding the situation they were in leading up to the light.

The two of them agreed that they needed to explore more of this place in search of answers. They had a general idea how they got to this place but there were far too many questions they needed answering. Still, it was far more comforting to have a fellow German soldier to explore the unknown together, though it didn't hurt that Klaus found his new partner quite attractive.

The duo reached the end of the hallway where a large gate barred their way. While Klaus searched for some sort of switch to open the gate, Katarina simply walked up and touched it. To his surprise, her simple approach worked with the gate opening before them. The duo took a deep breath before taking their step into the new room where they might learn about their new environment.

Chapter 67

When the young woman arrived at the ship, she saw that she was the last to return. The others had picked up their pace and the fastest person was finished a day ahead of her. This wasn't a race between them but it still mattered that they got their tasks accomplished as quickly as possible. For all they knew, their enemies were finishing their own preparations and were mounting their invasion of a few selected star system right this moment.

A nondescript probe was sent into space to explore the nearby star systems to provide some intelligence for these humans. They knew their potential allies were in the vicinity too but, given how they arrived in a hurry, they didn't have time to gather the intelligence needed to make their overall process smoother. The probe was sent as soon as their ship landed on the planet and had located several empty star systems thus far.

Looking forward to a hot shower and hot meals, the young woman excused herself after giving everyone an update of what she completed. The others waited outside the ship to enjoy the peaceful outdoors. The planet was indeed an ideal place for humans to thrive in but, with their enemies still at large and constantly invading, they had little time to grow their numbers and build a large empire spreading across much of the galaxy.

All of them lost someone to the enemies so they were bent on getting revenge for not only their loved ones but the human race. With limited intelligence, they knew about a human race in this galaxy and they envied the ignorance of these humans. The local humans had been living in relative peace without facing what the enemies they had to face on multiple occasions. The hardship and hopelessness they had to endure only made them far stronger than what they thought was humanly possible.

As the planet entered its night phase, the humans returned to their rooms where they rested. This was the first good night sleep any of them had since arriving on this planet. They were so busy in preparations that sleep was a luxury they didn't have for several weeks. Now that they were done, they could finally get some rest as their cubes did what they were designed to do. In time, they would be ready to face their enemies once again in battle as they tried to search for a way to permanently solve this threat.

Something nasty is lurking in the darkness of space apparently. Looking forward to the epic showdown.

There's always something nasty lurking in space. :p

Oh, of course there's something else hidden in the stars. Got to make things even more complicated.

Several of the parties I mentioned thus far know something about this hidden threat. :p

Can't wait to see what happens next, subbed

Welcome! I just need to cover some of the backstory first. :)

Abductions or a nazi teleportation device saving a select few to start anew on a distant planet. The Cold War in Space is about to kick off since I doubt it'll take long for the space nazis and space commies to run into each other :p

Their interaction will be rather interesting. :p

Chapter 68

Akilina didn't know how Marc learned about the disappearance of their fellow scientists when they were given different sleeping quarters but she didn't doubt her close friend one bit. She grabbed the few things she brought with her and the two of them made their way to the alien hanger. As much as she wanted to save her fellow scientists, Akilina knew they lack the information and weapons to make that even remotely possible.

The two of them tried to move around sneakily but, with them so exposed in the hallway, they felt they needed speed more than stealth. The hallway had been empty which shouldn't be so surprising since the aliens had nothing to fear. They probably suspected she and Marc were still asleep in their bed unaware of what was happening in the space station to their fellow scientists.

The duo soon arrived at the hanger without meeting a single alien. They were fortunate but they weren't out of the woods yet. If there were any aliens in the hanger, their only escape would be cut off. Taking a big risk, Marc opened the door to the hanger and waited for some alien to confront them. Instead, the hanger was empty too giving them access to everything in the room.

They weren't surprised one bit to find the Nobel dismantled in the hanger. The aliens must have planned on taking the ship apart to learn about their technology which seemed so inferior to what the Pelx were capable of. With their science ship basically scraps, they needed to take one of the Pelx ships to flee. Lacking any knowledge on how to pilot one of those ships, they had to hope they were quick learners and could leave the hanger in one piece.

Before they could decide on which ship to steal, they heard the sound of Pelx followed by a dozen or so Pelx guards entering the hanger with their weapons trained on them. Qyit entered the hanger with a shake to his head claiming that the duo hadn't been grateful for the hospitality he was offering them. Akilina, furious with what the Pelx was saying, demanded to know where her fellow scientists were at.

Le gasp. Surprising no one, the aliens who wanted to ask questions without providing a lot of answers are bad. Time for experiments, I'm guessing.

Chapter 69

Just as Qyit replied that Akilina and Marc would soon be joining their fellow scientists, three Pelx guards were suddenly shot down. The remaining guards quickly ran for cover before they searched their surrounding for those who were attacking them. Akilina and Marc, still stunned with the confrontation, stood there as they tried to make sense of the situation like the Pelx.

The Pelx guards might have found cover but they weren't safe as they were picked off one by one. Once she made sense of the situation, Akilina discovered that Qyit was nowhere to be seen. Clearly, the Pelx acted tough when he was in control but he was the first to flee the hanger when trouble arose. She gestured to Marc as the two of them laid low where they were at to make themselves smaller targets.

The small skirmish lasted a few minutes before the small contingent of Pelx guards were all dead. Akilina and Marc remained still until either the ambushers showed themselves or they were being targeted. They waited patiently but the ambushers were still nowhere to be seen. Just as the two of them were getting restless and chose to get up, they heard shouts coming from the hallway.

Assuming more Pelx guards were coming, Akilina led the way so she and Marc could have some cover. She had a feeling that the incoming guards were going to shoot first and ask questions later. Qyit most likely wasn't willing to risk more guards for them so they were likely to be shot. The Pelx guards were closing in but an explosion nearby shook the entire hanger and probably took out a good number of the guards.

The explosion covered the hanger with smoke and was choking the duo until they got back onto the ground. A blaze was engulfing part of the hanger with some of the ships there taking the brunt of the explosion. The duo took a moment to cough out the ashes as the two of them tried to analyze the situation finding the best way out. There were still a few ships in the hanger and this was as best as any moment to take one of them to flee.

The Pelx are definitely wishing our heroes harm. :p

Chapter 70

The birth of the Fourth Reich still remained a mystery for Klaus who did all the digging he dared without arousing suspicion. He had a feeling that nosing around where he shouldn't might just get him a death sentence given all the secrecy surrounding him. On the day he met Katarina, they entered a room filled with German officers who basically informed them all they needed to know to quickly adapt to their new environment under the new Reich.

The light he and Katarina saw was selective in that it picked the strongest candidates with the most developed skills and the most potential out of all those in the nests. The source of the light was a machine which was only recently built around the time of the Battle of Berlin which meant it had limited uses before it had to be destroyed to avoid it getting into the hands of the Soviets. The Germans in charge took no chance with the machine and destroyed it as soon as it completed its task.

Rumors claimed that the machine was meant for a mass evacuation when the war appeared to be lost but various issues during construction saw the machine completed with hardly any time to spare. Klaus, Katarina and a handful of others were fortunate to be taken to the new base in space while their fellow German soldiers all died fighting in the nests. Their survival meant they were given another chance to keep serving the Reich until their deaths.

Those who were sent to the new base by the machine never saw themselves fitting in. The Germans they were working with were all given birth in space as they never knew the planet Earth except for the name itself. Clearly, the Germans had some very early encounters with aliens that saw them walk a very different path. In addition, these Germans didn't exactly view Klaus and his fellow soldiers as allies. They were no different from outsiders who weren't accepted into society as a whole.

The superiors of the Fourth Reich chose to send these few Germans to their own facility fitted with food, water and all the basic necessities. They were to continue serving the Reich but their encounter with the other Germans were severely limited. This suited the newcomers just fine giving them some space, though they never felt like they fit into the Fourth Reich one bit. With the recent attack by the Pelx, Klaus suspected that the Reich might have a premature end which meant they should think about their own future.
