So, I'm playing as Rome and a civil war broke out when I tried to imprison one of my legate's. I thought no big deal I will wipe the rebel scum off the map but then they started to spawn 30 unit armies out of no where. So, as you can imagine I have since lost every single provence except ROMA. I'm holding onto it hoping I can reach 5 years but my ? is why aren't the rebels attacking me in rome, they have at least a 2 to 1 ratio in terms of troops.

One other ? I have. I noticed that I have characters who defect and the next day come back to me with 80 percent loyalty. Is this a bug?

Welcome to the forums!

Hmmm. they have a tendancy of defecting, but I do not have many come back. You have to be careful when arresting people, especially in a Republic.

Are you sure that one of the provinces that rebelled did not have 30 units? Any province that rebels, if the commander rebels with it, they get those troops. Lol. If not, then that is very weird.

You know all those rebels that randomly spawn when you have high revolt risk?

Instead of spawning and staying as red-black flag rebels, they automatically join the rebels.

In fact, I've seen them spawn when the civil war starts so there was no message of a revolt.

Sacrifice to Saturn and let the augurs find no white raptors in the skies above Rome. This will quell the rebellious spirit of the people and help to calm their nerves.

Thanks!

Yeah It was really odd it happend numerous times where characters defected then came back. Like in EU3 there would be rebellions that added troops to the Rebels but these would be new troops that weren't there before.

The real disaster that turned the tide of the war in the rebel's favor was the barbarian horde that attaked my nothern frontier. The horde was 16 units strong!!

You can always switch sides. ;)

Save, reload and choose the rebels.

Yeah, the AI doesn't understand the need to take the capital, but sometimes it flukes it. I had one Roman civil war that was incredibly tense--outnumbered and with worse leaders in Italy, I only barely held onto Roma until the 5-year mark. Needless to say, the republic was exhausted after all that...
