The estates were quite a disappointment. Yeah, they work and can give some neat bonuses, but we were promised so much more! The main let down is how little there was about cossacks, despite the expansion the estates arrived in is called "The Cossacks"! Thankfully there are plans on improving the estates' mechanics along the next patches - maybe we shall finally know the real meaning behind the nobility's "diet".

One of more interesting mechanics that could be added would be the raiding parties - available for every country having cossacks or tribes estate. In short: it would allow the player to make the peace time a little bit less peaceful. The action "organise a raid" would grant the estate a little bit of influence and a lot of loyalty. Once the button is clicked a stack would appear in a chosen province held by the estate - the army would get a bonus modifier to looting speed at the cost of decreased combat ability and could be sent to any country in a close proximity to the place that party was deployed from. When the band reaches the enemy provinces(be it through land or by sea) they would start looting them without sieging, in a manner similar to that of the vikings in Crusader Kings 2.

Basically what this suggestion would do is remove the randomness from the "Cossack Aggression" event or, if the devastation mechanic was implemented, get rid of the event whatsoever.

With ships steal trade, treasure ship gold, raid coasts and blockade ports for money and with land units all you can do is loot which is less fun and profitable than the others. I'm not counting pillaging because unlike in real life all you can do is pillage your own uncored provinces so this game needs more land based thievery.
