It's not a matter of where you're placing the zones, just how much demand there is. The lower the rci bars, the less demand there is. You should only be building ins small increments anyway as with residents, they all have the same max age they can live to. So when they get to that age it starts what we call a 'death wave'.

Just simply build each zone when tou have enough demand for that zone (typically around half a bar or just under).

Make sure water pipes connected from your water pumps and sewage drain pipes to your city. When laying out water pipes you'll see the area it covers. If you've done this perhaps it is because you don't have enough water pump or sweage pipes.

Check the info views panel by holding 'Y' on the controller and using the left thumbstick to select 'Info Views' from the radial menu
From there use the dpad to go to view your water info and it'll tell you your water availability and sewage treatment. If they're in the red then you need more water pumps and sewage pipes.

The same thing with electricity. Make sure you've connected your power plant to different parts of your city with power lines and you're producing enough electricity.

With people getting sick it can be for a few reasons. Perhaps you've got sewage water flowing into water pumps you've placed downstream or you've built industrial zoning too close the residential. It could also be because you have no nearby medical facility.

Sorry for the long replies but I do hope thus helps.

yes it did help. thanks.

ill keep the ind away from the res.

i use the same pipes for every building i lay.

ill try keeping the ind zones away from the homes and thatll show me weather the people r getting sick as much now.

every time i lay a water pimp or water tower i lay both when its time to lay 1 or the other.

ill report back later if theres any more issues.

so the people dont want the stuff there where i placed it? ok. and is it ok to lay the zones when the rci bars are very short yet are saying "you need this one"?

RCI zoning is based on unemployment. The base unemployment rate is 5%. any lower, then jobs will complain of lack of workers.

Try to keep unemployment high. the green demand bar low. The green bar at half full means about 5%, if it gets higher than half, then you should slowly start getting lack of worker messages.

If the bars get low then they will build slowly, so be careful zoning large areas at once, as it will seem they are not growing. They will still grow, just real slowly.
