First of all, let me say that I'm thoroughly excited by the arrived matchmaking. This is the thing that any modern game community really needs to function properly. However, as I've mentioned several times elsewhere I'm afraid that people would still stick around lobby games, just by the sheer inertia and by the, it seems very frustrating for some, absence of fixed allies vs axis games.

Since matchmaking is one of the most crucial aspects of living game and we all know how boring was the game finding process in RD, I would like to inquire whether some steps are planned to be taken in regards of public lobbies. To be more precise, what I have in mind is probably could be regarded as something radical, but what if the lobbies were closed for the public games leaving only servers for private games, team vs team games and various tournaments.
This approach would really make gaming experience much more smooth for everyone, giving an adequate ELO system players would be assembled into games with equals by an algorithm, as they should be. Some adjustments to the Quick Match concept are necessary though: a lot of players I've met in my first games seemed to be very frustrated by the possible mirror-match nature of the current system. If a couple of checkboxes could be added in order for players to select Axis vs Allies only or Any Match-up then everything would naturally fall in place for a smooth experience, with the minor exception of missing reconnect.

What do you guys think on the subject?
Thanks for attention.

Agreed. To quote myself to make this feature successful the following is required:

Make "Custom games" (the current lobby) available by invite only.
So no Lobby where you can easily enter and look for games.
The only other Option and first in menu is "Multiplayer" which brings you directly to the new Matchmaker which is copied from CoH2 basic functionality including ELO:
EJ7YgjN.png

(maybe include one more checkbox to "allow mirror match")
No mention of Ranked or Leaderboards to not scare peoples away (if you want it you could have it buried somewhere on some page or buried in options).

So:
- Need combined search for multiples game modes (like 2 friends searching together for 2v2 AND 3v3 AND 4v4 not just only 2v2)
- Need ELO like system to match player skills (behind scenes can be secret)
- Need Restriction of Custom Games (current lobby)
- Need filter to exclude mirror games

You are missing something important:

Quick play is not matchmaking.
Its a joke to feed the crowd and shut up the "matchmaking" demands.

Its like Russian Roulette Map for 10vs10 in Red Dragon, a bad joke and an insult to parts of the community.
But nevermind... we are used to that treatment by now :(

True matchmaking would give us more options to choose from. But it also requires a large playerbase which currently doesent seem to be likely...

Note to everyone - please take the time to watch this 4 minute video from the devs about matchmaking and quickplay - it answered quite a few of my questions... tl;dw - this is the first iteration and there will be selectable options coming to quickplay...(but, you know, watch the video, it's 4 minutes of your life!!) ;)
