The publicity campaign for HOI4 is being much quieter than the one for EU4 or CK2

No, none of all that. They just announced HoI IV too early and got sucked into the blackhole of the holidays in the recent months. Don't fall into negative speculation, just because you're not getting enough info to suit your tastes.

Yeah, we were a bit too early on the announce :) It will pick up with diaries and videos towards release though.

They should totally overhype it in every single possible way, and then when we're disappointed at the final product "Hey, it's still way better than Rome 2"

I hear release issues are fixed now and its pretty fun, but I havent gotten around to playing yet.

Project Armstrong for HOI IV compared to Project Augustus for Rome 2 is a bit silly. Should have been project Churchill or something to at least fit with the theme. Yeah it's a code name, but Augustus for Rome 2 completely gives it away at least for me.

Firstly Augustus isn't Rome 2, secondly all our new projects have Roman emperor codenames at the moment - Augustus just happens to be the one you know about.

I read this earlier but I didn't see that it was Darkrenown who posted it.

Well, Rome 2 is already semi confirmed by the guy wearing the shirt during the CKII WOL video (I think it was there) and PDS doesn't tend to create a ton of games at a time, so it seemed pretty obvious to me that Project Augustus was for Rome 2. If you really wanted to be all secrecy like, then you shouldn't have said anything and let all us chumps speculate on what it is, while you are sitting at your computer grinning.

Now we know that there is another game on the way then.

I don't want to be any more secrety than needed, I just wanted to let you know that your conclusion was based on a false premise - you thought a roman project name must equal a Rome game when in fact ALL our project names are roman ATM, besides HoI.

You might not have noticed, but it's become something of a forum thing for people to ask "Is it Rome 2?" every time a new project is mentioned, so in return it's became a thing for us to tease that Rome 2 is our next project - hence the shirt, but it's already been stated that Augustus is not a sequel.
