- Norway proper (including Båhuslen and Jamtaland)

Of course I have to disagree with this. :) Jamtaland shouldn't be counted in to Norway proper, as the people of that area was not represented at the election of new kings (Herjedalen was though).

Just the little nit-picker in me coming up ;)

Anyway, Åland should be a province of it's own, and if not it should be a part of Svealand, not Åbo, as it didn't became a part of Åbo län until 1643. The population of Åland was entirely Scandinavian too, not Finnish.

Still, we do have a plan for a "reconquista" of Jämtland and Herjedalen... :D

But by the mid 1200s, Jämtland was a part of the king of Norway's jurisdiction, right?

That woudl not really matter. The provinces are there for movement/combat purposes as well as for admin purposes. Some may be unsettled at the start of the game.

I realy don't know how Paradox estimates province populations.

There were perhaps as many 200.000 people in Norway in the 11th Century. This may have increased to 250-300.000 before the Black Death.

In the first census, 1801, Norway had a population of 800.000.

You are most welcome :D

But by the mid 1200s, Jämtland was a part of the king of Norway's jurisdiction, right?

In 1187 Jamtland was made tributary to the Norwegian king, but remained quite autonomous, with its own ting (Jamtamot, probably since the first part of the 10th century) and jurisdiction. The real integration into Norway can be considered the creation of the lagting which removed the power of the Jamtamot. This most probably happended in 1274 with the introduction of a Norwegian Landslov (the earliest sources mentioning the lagting is from 1303 iirc).
Summary, with slight difference in time, the answer is yes :)

Although I dont have vast knowledge of the subject, Norway should indeed be more powerful than what was possible in EU2, compared to its scandinavian cousins.

IE, after 1066-1300ish, in what way was Denmark so much more powerful than Norway? Norway raided and burned danish villages during wars, and they even had an invasion force ready that was stopped due to the act of a certain bishop.

And, Sweden wasn't the united entity it became later, or so I understand.

IE, Norway was at its peak of power around 1250ish, under Håkon Håkonssen.

Considering medevial numbers I would say that the numbers aren´t completely of the scale but I would also estimate them a wee bit higher. Say half a million or so.

I'm only making a guess, but I don't think I'm too far off if I say I think they'll use pretty much the same map like they had in Svea Rike 3. :)

You know that province south of Västergötland, west of Småland and north of Skåne.
And it is actually larger than Öland! And you can please tell me where Västerbotten is. It sounds like a hot dog.

No crazy "norrlänningar" hides in the bushes ready to attack. And off course you dont need to freeze to death down here.
