If you've already got a female heir and then build a castle to put her in, will the achievement still fire? Or does it have to be get castle --> get princess --> put princess in this castle?

You won't be able to get it if you start the game with a female heir, order of heir/castle doesn't matter after that.

Achievements are so important, cant play a game without it right? Tbh I think achievements was one of the most stupid thing to add in all kind of games, whats the point.
Fully agree, but if there has to be achievements, they should be done properly and fairly. I will never even try Ironman because that way I can keep my EU4 profile achievement free, but there are people who do care about achievements and having literally impossible achievements is really shitty way to treat them.

I personally use Achievements as a "what to play ... uhh this achivement looks interesting"
I think that's how many of them were created - those that aren't super hard or super easy. I have played a bunch of games with countries I wouldn't have chosen otherwise, and they were fun.

Conveniently, you can now play Ironman (if you want the other effects of Ironman) while keeping your EU4 profile achievement free very straightforwardly if you have El Dorado: Create a custom OPM somewhere. Boom, your game is no longer achievement-eligible, even if you're playing as a historical nation.

you dont even have to make a custom nation, as long as custom nations are enabled even if you didn't make one it disables achievements

There's still the issue of frequent save games causing lag and the issue of mods, but that's actually a good idea. Might try out how Ironman is with one of the AI countries being Atlantis relocated to Hawaii.

No, capital gets +1 free fort level on top of any fort buildings (if any) built there.

I honestly don't understand this...

A castle is a level 1 fort, right?
Capital gets +1 fort level on top, if there's one built in capital.
That means, level 0 fort stays lvl 0
But once i build a level 1 fort, it gets that bonus level and then wouldn't it be a level 2 fort? And hence no longer eligible for the achievement, as it got said you need a castle (which is a lvl 1 fort).

Fort Level is a parameter of the province. By default, a province has Fort Level 0, and a capital has Fort Level 1. A Castle is a building which increases the province's Fort Level by one point and which can later be replaced by a more powerful building that provides a larger increase in Fort Level.

To get the achievement, you need a female heir, and the Castle building in your capital.

I think it goes: 0 level capital works like level 1 fort but is 0 level (no achievement), level 1 fort capital works like a level 2 fort but is a level 1 fort (yes achievement), level 2 capital works like a level 3 fort but is a level 2 fort (no achievement).

Think of it as a fort effectiveness modifier for it being in your capital, it doesn't actually change the fort you've got there, it just means that it works like the level above what it is.

not really important but I think forts go up by two levels at a time, so the first fort we can build is lvl 1 and the second fort we can build is lvl 3, having a lvl 1 fort on the capital acts like a lvl 2 fort even though lvl 2 forts can't be built

Achievements give me something to aim for, without them I'd probably have played a lot less EU than I have done.
Some people love achievements because it gives a sense of completion or a target other than just "playing" and like the recognition.

Achievements for "start a game" or "Declare war for the first time" I don't care about, but the hard ones? I like being able to say "Hey, I did a WC" here's the proof, other than just showing a screenshot.

I agree. I did say I don't really care for achievements, but strategy games are the ones that can cue me to a particular playstyle, which can be a good thing!

The achievement is dumb, as well, as other achievements based on luck. I know they wanted to refresh achievements because we're somewhat tired of Conquer Iberian peninsula with nation_01 but still.

there are what 2 "based on luck" including this 1, maybe 3.

The Princess is in this castle
Electable!
Die Please Die

Except they aren't really, there are OPM strats for Electable! or you could just be Austria force your PU over Bohemia after making them as small as possible and then inherit them

Die Please Die, has multiple possible starts, I would advise Timurids but others can be attempted, just dont make your ruler a general and cross your fingers, this is probably the most luck based

On current patch, go into your Women in History event files find a nation that will get a female heir event after the date you can get a royal palace, achievement done, with the change, its also easier since you just have to build a Castle in your capital and wait for a female heir or a Women in History event and its much more time since you can keep an eye out for a princess asap instead of hundreds of years in
