Spanish empire should be de jure.
So then why do none of the vassal obey the medium crown law? Edit: Nevermind, I read a thread on the main forum explaining that crown laws only affect your direct vassals, for example if a count wants to declare independence from his duke, he can still go to war. And when they both drag all their allies into the war, that explains why it seems half of my kingom is at war with each other even when i have medium crown authority.
Also about illness, my 2 cents is that it is fine as is. I have played 4 rulers in my game of valencia -----> hispania and 2 of them died fairly young, one due to typhus, one from a wound.
It's true that basic illness rarely kills, but in my game there have been repeated outbreaks of typhus, and other diseases which regularly kill many people in my realm, including one of my kings, children, and many vassals.
Another suggestion, would be to decrease levy respawn rates. I noticed that by the year 1200 some realms were able to spawn literally huge armies. The Seljuk turks in my game, grew a bit past their dejure start, however not much, and they were able to raise 500k men. I think it is due to the technology boost which I think you added (however i may be wrong). And the problem is with such huge armies, and very fast respawn rates, it becomes damn near impossible to win any overseas war, even against a considerably weaker target. Because even if you manage to get your 100k men to a far away kingdom, due to the attrition rates on enemy territory you can only have groups of less than 12k. Meanwhile the enemy on his own ground, can easily martial 30k troops or more with no attrition. So you bite the bullet, and form your men into a group of 35k, attacking quickly so that you don't lose so many to attrition, and wipe them out.
But then a year later, or maybe a little longer, (sorry I didnt time it), they are able to raise nearly as many again. It just seems that the regeneration rates are too fast, and I realize it is that way in vanilla. However it might make sense to decrease it, so that big battles that wipe out many levies actually mean something.
