As a Jew that his family (from both sides) came from Romania, I can tell you that Europan Jews are not tan. Even that I lived all my life in Israel, my skin color looks European.

I suggest splitting the "Israelite" culture into two: "Ashkenazi" (European Jews) and "Sephardic" (In Hebrew: "Spanish". This is how Jews from the Middle-East and North Africa are called).

It looks quite wierd as Duke of the isles, to have Tan Jews in my court.

They were all arabic before, so I think they look a bit better at the moment. ;) Not perfect of course, but yeah.

Uhm...no we weren't?

*edit* Wait nevermind, I thought you were suggesting jewish people were arabic, as in, outside of CK2 lol, but you meant the graphics.

Yeah, sorry. Maybe I made it sound wrong. Lol. :p But yeah, I meant that they had the looks of arabs in game before. It could be a good idea to split the culture into two and all, one which has a "tan" and what not. :) It could easily be made.

So, no difference between Sephardim and Mizrahim then? Nowadays these two terms at least in Israel have conflated quite heavily and Middle Eastern Jews quite often are called Sephardim. Even Sephardi Chief Rabbis of Israel are often Mizrahi.
My point is that if there is to be a division (IMHO, no particular reason to do that although I'm definitely not against), Mizrahim have to included. Since Iraqi, Persian, Indian and even Khazar Jews (in territorial sense) are Mizrahi. Oh, and there definitely should be Sabras. :) Especially since there are conversion events + Israel. :)
In other words if idib has time and thinks this is reasonable then sure, why not. But really, as much as I would like to see a genealogical diversity in my own brethren (+ some heresies and all that), that's definitely not absolutely necessary, because it's CK2 and TPatT and not CK2 and a Radhanite mod or Knights and Merchants or something. :)
There are also some bugs left that need to be rooted out.

EDIT: Ashkenazim (European gfx), Sephardim (Andalusian/Muslim gfx), Mizrahim (Muslim gfx). Sort of.

Mizrahim ("Eastern") and Sephardic Jews are just the same thing. I suggest the term "Sephardic" just because it is used in Vic2.

Mizrahim ("Eastern") and Sephardic Jews are just the same thing. I suggest the term "Sephardic" just because it is used in Vic2.

Mmmh, true and not true. Mizrahim are the Jews originary from the middle-easter Muslim countries (Mizrah, East, says it all) while Sephardic are the Jews that are originally from Spain (Sfarad) and that are now considered as all the Jews coming from the mediterrenean area (it has to be said that many people still don't make the distinction between Sephardic and Mizrahim Jews). All those differences though originated much later than the historical period we are talking about. At CK2 times in Europe there were only Sephardic Jews, which weren't even Sephardic yet since that distinction originated after they were kicked out of Spain right after the Reconquista. That's why I opted for a single "Semitic" (Israelite) culture group, rather than the 2 or 3 (depending on who you follow and your personal beliefs) Jewish ethnic groups that we refer to nowadays. I wanted them to look Semitic so I gave them the same looks as the Andalusian-Arabic people which are the group that in-game looks the more resembling to Jews to me.

Of course everything can change :)

INFO: I'm not talking "Stam" as they say in Hebrew, I have a degree/minor in Middle Eastern history at Tel-Aviv University.

First of all, thank you for the mod, it's very good.
But I have to ask, where did all the church taxation go? Neither I nor the pope do get any gold from the bishops.

First of all, thanks for the great mod. For me it has enabled an already enjoyable game to truly reach the full potential it has to offer.
Now, here's my modest contribution to your work, should you see the need to include it to future patches: modified Finnic Viking Age/Early Medieval non-Christian names and naming system:

Note that I added two Catholic chieftains to Satakunta and a Orthodox to Karelia for earliest starts - this is for historical flavour mostly, and hasn't really altered game balance in the North in my test games. As a future suggestion I'd recommend that you split the ahistorical large "kingdoms" from the area of modern-day Finland and Northern Russia completely up - they weren't such advanced state formations there historically, unlike in the Baltic area, and having them split up to one-province counties would represent the historical situation of the area much better. Keep up the good work regardless :D

First of all, thank you for the mod, it's very good.
But I have to ask, where did all the church taxation go? Neither I nor the pope do get any gold from the bishops.

You have to be careful about what church taxation law you have. Also don't worry the Pope and the Antipope get enough money to survive and make them richer than 99% of the game's population. I just nerfed it a bit so that the Pope wouldn't hire a million mercs for each war he gets into. Because okay he's the Pope, but he can't hold off the HRE.

Mizrahim ("Eastern") and Sephardic Jews are just the same thing. I suggest the term "Sephardic" just because it is used in Vic2.
If you say so. :) It's just that here in post-Soviet Union we usually differentiate all groups of Jews depending on their religious (traditions, ceremonies etc.), ethnic, linguistic and other characteristics. Matter of habit and scientific study I guess.
My point was that in modern terms Mizrahim and Sephardim are often (at least in Israel) considered the same, however, within CK2 time frame they were most certainly not quite the same (West European/German, Iberian, Middle Eastern + myriads of others such as Beta Israel, Bene Israel or Kaifeng Jews). That's pretty much it.
And yes, if it's a matter of implementing something more or less fast and already known to many people, then Sephardim will do, no particular doubt there.

If you PM me with your material I'll add it to the mod :) I hate to copy and paste :D

EDIT: Needless to say you'll be credited for it ;)

Look at my post about it, I hope it clarifies things :)

Oh right! I forgot that Jews now have Andalusian gfx. Just saw countesses of Mosul and Sussex. Nice. :)

This is a brilliant mod but I must say that the kidnapping plot doesn't really make sense, since if that would happen to a medieval ruler why the wouldn't he just say "Oh, take the province" and then instead of actually giving it away to some scum that has threatened to kill him he takes the guilty and put their heads on spikes? Furthermore it doesn't make sense from the plotters part either since the man they kidnapped is now their liege and there is nothing that is stopping him from just march over to their new county and butcher them.

I suggest that maybe instead of asking for a county they ask for money and that after the kidnapping they flee to another court.

Any comment Idib?

Look at my post about it, I hope it clarifies things :)
It does. :)
By the way, I just restored Charles' empire with the Vermandois branch. Well, it's Franconia actually but that's not the point. Thing is that Franconia has a de jure territory and I have all three kingdom titles (France, Arles and Brittany). Since I'm the holder of every one of them, shouldn't the royal laws (authority + investiture) apply to 3 kingdoms depending on what Franconia has? Since Franconia currently has minimal authority and France, Brittany and Arles have medium and their laws are applied and not Franconia's. Have I missed something or is this WAD?

Kingdom's crown authority if the kingdom is existant surpasses the empire's one. Also Franconia shouldn't be de jure so I guess you're gonna have to either stick with the kingdom's laws or just raise your own crown authority until it equals or surpasses the one of the kingdoms you own. For instance in the HRE if you're under the kingdom of Bohemia you are affected by the kingdom's crown laws and not by the empire's ones. So there shouldn't be anything weird going on if I understood what you're telling me right.
