This is my first mod - please be clement with your judgement. The main idea behind the mod is, or at least was, to add new traits and events to the vanilla game in order to add more flavour, possibilities and entertainment. I have integrated other mods or parts of them into the main mod and given credit to the respective authors and contributors (see in features and changelog). If any of the people whose work I have integrated into my own mod would like me to remove it I will do so at once. Please notify me and I will comply asap.


Features:

18 new traits + 7 special traits + death traits. All new traits have custom icons and can be gained both through education and random events.
300+ new events + many new event pictures
Holy Roman Emperor Papal coronation and King coronation events.
New and more accurate coats of arms and country flags.
New graphics for cities, depending on cultures.
More and new nicknames.
Many new decisions, now it is possible to abdicate the throne, get a concubine, hire an artist or even found a priory!
New historical Kingdoms and Empires.
New Holy War system, the system works this way: you can declare holy war on any neighboring territory, but just if a province of your demesne is bordering the province you wanna declare a holy war for. To make it possible to declare holy war on a territory who is bordered by any of your vassals you need to have at least limited crown authority. We also put piety and prestige requirements for the A.I. to make the game more realistic and prevent the HRE from taking over North Africa or other silly things like that.
Many new plots and ambitions.
Major effort towards balance and tweaks towards realism and immersion.
100+ Historical characters fully implemented in game with dedicated events and the option to welcome them to your court!

Very nice! I'll probably plug this straight into my game. A couple of comments:

- Would be nice if you made the trait icons' backgrounds a different colour, more in keeping with the other traits
- Some of the trait names are anachronistically immersion breaking; Lady Macbeth, Pre-Machiavellian and War Hero, especially. Imo it'd be better to rename them to something more unspecific/in keeping with the period (maybe Guilty Conscience, Pragmatist/Conniving or Victorious Warrior) even if you then mention Lady Macbeth and Machiavelli in the event descriptions.
- Something like 'Early Bank Sponsor' would work better as a modifier, wouldn't it? Say, an event pops up offering you an investment opportunity, for instance, and you can invest to get a return on money in the form of a modifier for the next 20 years (or perhaps the modifier applies to your capital province, so it survives your death, and you get a modifier saying 'Banking contacts').

(1) I was planning on changing the colour of the icons when I realized too that they were a bit too different from the vanilla ones and I will do it asap
(2) I agree for what regards Pre-Machiavellian and War Hero, and I agree with your idea to change them to Pragmatist and Victorious Warrior. I will do that too asap. Should I change the icons for tolerant and conservative too? I just couldn't think of any other culturally shared symbol of those traits. For what regards Lady Macbeth, the fictionalized account we all know is of course by William Shakespeare and well beyond the game's timeframe. Lady Macbeth though is a 11th century historical character (Queen Gruoch of Alba) and therefore I don't really see it as immersion breaking. I will think about changing the name in the localisation to Guilty Conscience as you suggested or something similar but I also think that there is almost no plausible synonym for a Lady Macbeth-like state of mind.
(3) It would work well as a modifier but I don't think it's that bad as a trait. I think that using it as a trait reflects the historical highly personalistic rule of medieval monarchs and how attitudes could change from one day to the next (without even a change of monarch). I was thinking of modifying the trait though and change it to a piety malus and tax bonus only.

It's not so much that Lady Macbeth is out of period, as that the idea of a guilty Lady Macbeth is directly out of the Shakespeare play, which is out of period.

I haven't checked out all of your trait images; it's obviously important that they be clear. Plenty of ingame symbols are anachronistic for that reason. Style does matter though; even if the symbol itself is anachronistic, the way it's drawn can make it seem less 'off'. If I have any more specific ideas, I'll let you know!

My impression is that 'Early Bank Sponsor' is a description of an action you've taken, rather than a trait/attitude. A simple rename might do the job, and it would be best if events were linked to it to give it proper context. Of course, you've probably planned that already :)

Hello Hroppa, this is the second author of the mod (we are brothers), and I agree with you saying that Lady Macbeth is a bit out of period. I just thought we could change it to "Medea", another figure who can really make the concept clear and be relevant to the game's timeframe.

I think a couple icons can be slightly changed to make them appear brighter, as all in-game icons are very bright, but other than that the style should be fine and the symbols aren't gonna be out of place at all even in the next update hopefully.

Early bank sponsor could be both a nice modifier and a trait, but since you think it's rather confusing to use it for what we mean, I came up with an "Economist" alternative.

I'm the one that wrote all the events and I can tell you that so far we have written more than 50 game events, 1 for each new trait and 1 or 2 that might make you get the trait, together with vanilla traits and piety and prestige bonuses. I'm also working on an event that will allow to challenge someone you don't like to a duel, and many bastard related events.

Well, looks like awesome work!

Not a fan of Economist (though I'm studying the subject!) as it's even more anachronistic. Banker would be better, though it shouldn't be possible to gain until a particular level of economic development is reached. Again, though, I think this works better as a combination of modifier and events.

I had to look up Medea; I'm still of the opinion that traits are best generically named, rather than named after specific people.

Nice! I'm majoring in economics as well. I thought about it, and we could make it be either "Scotus' Disciple" or "Doctor Subtilis" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duns_Scotus)

I also thought about the Lady Macbeth/Medea, and we agreed on giving it a final name of "Crazed Plotter", and we will put the same description as in Lady MacBeth with the required adjustments of course.

I have a few plans and notes for traits and events; not going to have much time to work on them in the next week or so, but I'd certainly be open to collaborating in a little while.

Well until the renaissance and even after that all the men of science and literature knew how to do many other things, so I allowed myself to consider Scotus an economist ;)

Coronation where big deal back then, special HRE and france, even thought king is defacto ruler, he is not the defur until he coronation, so if could coronation event crown trait that would be great.

Ok here is a preview of the event I'm working on right now.. I hope it's understandable for everyone, we will post screenshots of more events hopefully tomorrow. :)


-Event 6: "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."
Sightings of a dragon or some monster of the sort have drastically increased in the northern regions of the realm, and it now appears that the populace is starting to believe the end of the world is approaching!

Choice 1: Gullible idiots. (Gains 5 prestige and 15 piety, 35% chance of getting the trait "Trusting")

Choice 2: It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him. I'll look into it.
(Gains 10 prestige, 20% chance of getting the trait "Stubborn", either Event 7 or Event 8 happen with even chances)

Choice 3: May our Lord shield us with his Armor of Light! (Gains 20 piety, 50% chance of getting the trait "Zealous", 35% chance of getting the trait "Ignorant")

Chance: 2% chance to happen a year, only for adult rulers.


-Event 7: Your spymaster claims that most of the people who say to have seen the dragon had a strong french accent.. This sounds suspicious.

Choice 1: Come not between the dragon, and his wrath. (Gains 20 prestige and 15 piety, 15% chance of getting the trait "Craven", 25% chance of getting the trait "Slothful")

Choice 2: St. George will kill the dragon once again.
(Gains 30 prestige and 10 piety, loses 120 gold, 75% chance of getting the trait "Brave", 15% chance of getting the trait "Pragmatist", +10 relations bonus with spymaster)

Choice 3: I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it's in your mind. Who's to say that dreams and nightmares aren't as real as the here and now?
(Loses 15 piety, 60% chance of getting the trait "Mystic")


-Event 8: Your spymaster after interviewing some eye witnesses and visiting the site where the seeing was reported didn't find anything suspicious on the matter.

Choice 1: The age of chivalry is past.. Bores have succeeded to dragons, and I have shivered too many lances in vain ever to hope for their extirpation.
(Loses 30 prestige, 15 piety and 100 gold, loses the trait "Pragmatist", 30% chance of getting the trait "Crazed Plotter")

Do you have anything in mind event-wise?
after said ruler take the thrown, there he will ability to shoot off coronation event. If cost cold and invist all noble kingdom to bear witness and swear homage, any do not start a civil war.

I can definitely work on coronation events triggered after you inherit a kingdom, or on a modifier basis with yearly chance. Your idea is added to the mod with mid priority.

I can definitely work on coronation events triggered after you inherit a kingdom, or on a modifier basis with yearly chance. Your idea is added to the mod with mid priority.
Untill coronation it would easy for vassal or any one with claim to kick off your throne, throught plot or war.

Untill coronation it would easy for vassal or any one with claim to kick off your throne, throught plot or war.
Makes perfect sense. Will be added as a coronation plot and counterplot after the traits have been fully implemented with events with high priority.
