The price tag

I know it's early grounds (and how early!) but what is the mean estimate on the game's price tag when it's released? I don't know how able I'm going to be able to buy it through ordering and delivery since I can only rely on cash but it's always nice to speculate and argue. I'm thinking somewhere around 40 euros myself but it can be less than that or much more.

Looking back at their marketing policies I would guess somewhere between 39.00 to 49.00 USD with the former being more a likely price.

Err... EU III can only get that money (54.00USD) from its loyal fans, not the average gamer. EU III is not a CivIV or NFL 2006.

Where my loyalties truly lie, nobody knows. But if EUIII turns out to be such a great game as I think it will, 54 bucks isn't at all that much.

We (including you, no matter where you think your loyalties lie), are already in the pocket of Johan, no matter what the tag is. But the average player may find 54.00 bucks hard to swallow for a game that is quite irregular in taste and genre compared to the BIG boys with *bling bling* graphics out there in the special shelf under the *bling bling* huge poster.

Yes, I'm not too happy about the conversion rate they use there - which will probably mean that instead of getting it directly from Paradox I will get it from play.com

I'm used to pay 34 Euros for a Paradox game. And additional 10 - 15 Euros for the addon I expect to see.

Given the exchange rate EU3 would be cheaper to buy from the US than Australia at 54USD. This is the price we pay for 14 years without a recession.

I would prefer to get EU3 cheaper tho, as im not as wealthy now as i used to be..

Well, I'll just change some Euros to dollars then; cut my losses this way. BTW, I've spent, like, less than four months on this forum and wheather or not I will actually get EUIII at all is an unanswered question. I just thought a price tag discussion will be useful to those partaking in it and provide me with free intel on sources for getting the game - physically, it will probably not be available here in Romania for quite some time and if I do get the game, I'd sooner get it earlier even at a higher price, than later and find myself out of date.

@Rotte Venetic: Oh, nothing official. But HOI2 had one, Ricky (or V:R ) has been released, I hope CK will get one and if EUIII is selling well, I'm sure Paradox will make an addon, probably about the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars. Just assumptions...

Myself I may try to look for it in Gibraltar (it's close to here). Maybe I'll find it there at a reasonable UK price without taxes. Or maybe I'll try some friend in Casablanca.

Doesn't matter. Retailers want the prices set the basically the same (within 5USD) for every game. They have refused games because companies wanted to sell it for less.

Even for expansion packs they often want full retail price of a new game.
