I supported Civil Rights; a bill was passed only recently, and Jim Crow is not only a Republican issue; it has found support in some Federal circles. Since the income of the worker, and indeed their general standard of living has skyrocketed. I am not, and have never been pro-business; I am pro-capitalist, which is much more pro-consumer than economic regulations that ultimately impede growth and progress. On being isolationist, I support free trade, negotiating with other nations; however, I fail to see any reason to get ourselves involved in needless wars, or put ourselves in a position to be called to war, as you and Terrance seem to think internationalism is (really that idea is warmongering and a soft form of imperialism, but will lead to the expansion of the military industrial complex all the same).
If my flat tax is 'elitist,' then explain why everyone's taxes were reduced, and explain to me why, when the poor are already seeing vast improvement, we need to raise taxes and use government power to slow growth, or cause a recession? Infrastructure can, and should, be handled on a state or private level, and we have continued to help states in certain, limited cases. And most social reforms were only reformed to make them more effective, and this time of economic growth, people can, and should, save their own money (which they can with the lower taxes I put in place).
The only reason I stopped pushing so hard for civil rights (though I did make more progress than practically any president since Williams and, to a lesser degree, Jamous) was that no one supported my moves; the Federals were silent on the issue, and the Southern Republicans opposed any measures. The American League, however, became a secondary concern with my push for civil rights, supporting voting reform, and pushing for my economic reform. However, Latin America has, by and large, settled down, and I hope that such a League can be made in the near future.
You say the poor are perpetually poor; that is simply not the case. The vast majority of poor are doing better than before, certainly much better than they did under Terrance, when they were drafted into fighting a European war. Under my administration, there has been cultural, economic, and industrial growth; under Terrance, there was tyranny, governmental expansionism, hawkishness, and economic stagnation (that growth people want to claim happened under him, did not, as anything produced was created to destroy growth). The rich benefit, yes, but all Americans have prospered under my administration, and if we keep the government out of their lives, we can hopefully keep that prosperity going.
And I apologize for the misquote; I thought you were referring to the Democrats as the lapdogs with Terrance being the Emperor; though in either case you were correct.
