I am doing my job Vice-President. I made it clear before accepting the position of Secretary of State that I will do everything in my power to prevent a war and ensure good relations and possible alliances are signed with both NGF and GB. And if it is a decision to be made by the President, the Navy should stand down until he gives official orders. And Jarvis, none of our policies are what you promised.

I do believe in a military build up. If I had my way the entire armed forces would have a massive expansion, but I am not in charge. And I simply said to leave the Navy in a neutral defensive stance, not to make it clear to the world that we may be getting ready for war.
I am certain our newspapers get overseas, Mr. Secretary. And I certain the Spanish were already aware of this present administrations... hostile view towards her. I doubt the Europeans are oblivious to this situation, and I agree; our involvement in a war will upset Britain and Germany for a variety of reasons.
Going to war with Spain is not what I fear will upset Great Britain and the NGF, but a mobilization of our forces when we are at peace.

Yes, but see you are then hurting the administration, since it would give the Spanish time to prepare their defence whilst our troops are still being fielded. But again, I am opposed to war, so I'm content with that.

It takes weeks for news and papers to cross the Atlantic. By the time the Spanish hear of this we shall be on their doorstep!
Not with the diplomacy you're getting with this presidency (perhaps a new Hawk Party should be formed? The American National Party maybe?). I doubt that the American troops will be ready in a matter of weeks, especially with Secretary Khur and other members of the government opposing military buildup and mobilization.
I happen to be the only one in this administration who is a pacifist, and I have no say on whether or not the military is mobilized for war or not, I was simply giving my recommendation as Secretary of State.
Mobilise the troops! Prepare the Guns! Ready the Navy! We must not delay and give away the advantage. The time to strike is Now!
We will not support any invasion of Spanish Cuba unless our Southern brethren decide to do so. As such, as soon as our colleagues from Texas and Georgia officially state their opinion, we will follow.
I'm afraid that it is not up to you whether or not we invade Cuba. This matter is the President's only, not to the states.
