What is this great, unbridled fear of the free market? Why must the State, an inefficient, corrupt beast, become the chief provider of goods, of what you call 'welfare?'

We have different concepts of a free market. You accuse me of wanting to make the government the "chief provider of goods" but at no point do I make this claim. The government must at a minimum ensure that all sections of society (not just the ones that vote for it) are able to succeed with their own labour. It is a mistake to assume the market is self-correcting.

I have a question for all the candidates that support attacking cuba. Will we free Cuba or keep it? (( we have cores in Cuba a believe))

Assuming that we must "attack" Cuba, we will follow the outline of the Cuban Liberty Act [1857] as Gov. Glynne has stated previously.

((The act does not appear to be linked on the front page, nor could I find the [Native Citizenship Bill] I could have sworn there was also.))

You may not want it to become the chief provider, Mr. Callahan, but it is incrementalism; I doubt anyone would want to cede that much power over to the government at once, save the revolutionaries. However, if we set the precedent for governmental interference, it will lead to control. It becomes especially likely in your democracy. Is the government self-correcting? I highly doubt the government, when not compelled by competition, would be obliged to resolve its inefficiencies, sir. No monopoly is. That is why they fail.

Baltimore Farmers' Daily

Benjamin Rutledge dies from injuries

While returning home after a day of campaigning, Benjamin Rutledge was assaulted by an angry mob of farmers. They shouted cries of joy, remarking that Mr. Rutledge was "despotic" in acquiring farms, "halfhearted" in campaigning for small farmers, and plundered his estates and enjoyed the brandy he had stored for the centennial of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. He reportedly said, "Those damn Federals...get off my lawn!" before dying of physical wounds trying to fight off the mob with his wooden cane. Maryland militiamen were dispatched but arrived too late to lift the siege. All that is left is a smouldering pile of wood and ravaged fields.

Before he died, Benjamin Rutledge reportedly urged his supporters to support Mr. Jarvis in the coming election. Although he lacked strength in the electoral college, he appealed to many agriculturalists and farmers, especially in his home state.

((Hope this is ok. Mr. Rutledge couldn't really do much and I wanted a real Southern character.))

I want to be the first to send my condolences to the Rutledge family. He was a good man, and had strongly supported my policies, even in this campaign against me. He will be missed.

(Bachmann retired, I am making a new guy)

Mark Feldman was born in 1850 (He is 30 years old, whatever year we are at now) in Austin Texas. He was born to well established farm owners who immigrated from Warsaw Poland to find fortune in America. Feldman developed a global view early on in life during the outbreak of the American Civil War. His family's farm was burned to the ground, and his father killed in service in the Confederate Army. Mark's mother died shortly after of a bacterial infection, leaving Mark alone and homeless in Austin. Feldman moved to the growing industry of Ohio for a brief time and worked on the railroads. Over time, he noticed the constant need to repair the railroads, which were predominantly made of iron, and planned on how to use this to his advantage. Early on, Feldman invested in the growing railroad companies and helped finance the invention of the Bessemer process for cheap steel. Just now is the steel revolution about to take a hold on the world, and Mark looks to make money. Even more recently, Feldman had worked as a general railroad manager out back in Texas again (during his investments), and grew to appreciate both the growing industry of the west, and the land which made his country so great.

Policies:

Economics: Laissez Faire, Free trade
It is not the governments job to get involved in the economy

Military: Pro- Military

The US army should help in the continual expansion out-West

Citizenship/ Religion: FUll CItizenship/ Pluralism

Let all come to our borders, populate our boundless nation, and reach forward in affluence

The Cuba Question:

Would not be totally averse to war ;-)

The West:

The future of this country will be in the West. California, Texas, already we see the effects in Michigan and Ohio, the West will rise as a force in American politics. I only ask that the West be given its own to develop, no intrusion besides protection from the government.

Feldman is currently a Representative from the State of Texas, hoping for Congressional running in the upcoming Election.

This will be by no means the most economically interventionist administration.
Nobody is "handing over" power to the government with this platform. There is a marked decrease in power if anything. By the way, "a self-correcting government" was what they were aiming for with the constitution. With such an anti-government stance as yours, you shouldn't be surprised if people accuse you of being an anarchist.

So, Mr. Feldman's first act is to bring the Federal Party's unbelievably eventful primary to a stalemate. :p

If there are no new votes by 10 AM Finnish time, Harrison will vote and the primaries will be over.

Yes, I know it won't be, but I don't want to continue setting that precedent. I am not 'anti-government,' and I am surprised you would even paint me as such, since I have stood for the Constitution, and the Republic, longer than you've been alive. That I want a smaller, more devolved, State, acting according to the Constitution, is anarchist? Was Jefferson an anarchist? Madison? I doubt that your unionist, Libertarian, style of leadership, would lead to a 'self-correcting' government. Ah, may I ask who you Vice-Presidential nominee is? I am quite interested.

I find it odd that a party formed wholly on the principle of supporting a particular area of this nation disturbing. It reminds me of another party, that decades ago, would become a hotbed of secession, jingoism, and interventionism. Consider this; the Republican Party does not favour one ocean over the other. President Mandrake is a Mid-Westerner, and I am Californian. This party, built on abolition, the market, industry, labour, immigrants, Catholics, Protestants, Whites, Blacks, New Englanders, Westerners, and Southerners has been, and will be, under my administration, the 'big-tent,' devoted to liberty, peace, equality, prosperity, and, above all, The Constitution!

Name: John C. Brockman
Political position: Republican, Senator from North Carolina

jeffersondavisportrait.jpg

A distant relative of Thomas Patterson Brockman, he shared the same Unionist sympathies of his fellow member of the Brockman family. Mr. Brockman resides in North Carolina, but offers commercial legal services in South Carolina and Kentucky as well. Despite a relatively successful career in the legal sector, Brockman is predominantly a political statesman and has accumulated little from his legal entrepeneurship. A strong believer of the "Carolinas strategy", he believes North Carolina and South Carolina should always vote together to protect their mutual interests. While he has tried to assert influence over Georgia's representatives over the years, the growing strength of the state governed in Atlanta has meant the Carolinas strategy lacks much power except in the affairs of the Deep South with Georgia independent of a practical political union. On the other hand, Tennessee has increasingly integrated itself into the will of the Carolinas under a Unionist and Moderate resurgence.

Mr. Brockman was against the dissolution of Union for ideological and practical reasons. He was deeply skeptical the South could detach itself from the richer and more powerful Union through the force of arms with no foreign support whatsoever, he believed the states should act as one whole body to ensure their acts were heard, and advocated a compromise slavery amendment that ensured it would never be abolished. Unfortunately, hardliner secessionists and landed gentry drowned out his voice and blocked his measures to prevent North Carolina from seceding. He avoided conscription by paying fees to the government and disputed the legal grounds for militant secession from the Union, but never quite went past the point of no return with the Deep South, being a man with sympathies towards moderation and his Southern brethren. Some say he never lashed out at the South due to a belief that North Carolina had more to gain from friendship with the South than pandering to the North, but Mr. Brockman has offered no comment.

Greetings Mr. Brockman! I am sorry that cool voices like yours were drowned out in the fire of democracy, the masses opposed to freedom and equality for all men. I am happy to see that men like you, moderates, cautious, are leading the legislatures of the South; perhaps, finally, we shall have peace there.

Thank you, Mistah Jarvis. May the North and South reunite in the face of a need for mutual protection and representation in the world.

It is unfortunate Mr. Rutledge died due to chauvinists, a clear remnant of the impulsiveness that tore this Union apart only a few years ago...

Mistuh Jarvis, do you intend to relegate more responsibility and power to the states to govern themselves? North Carolina believes that is the primary issue facing us, aside from industry.

North Carolina will abstain from any vote on the Cuban Question for the foreseeable future.

Chauvinists, good sir? They hated women? Perhaps you mean charlatans?

Regardless, they may very well have been all three; chauvinists, charlatans, and confederate sympathizers.

Yes, those charlatans. North Carolina has both, but these charlatans are the ones causing disorder.

I thought chauvinism was the correct choice of word by Brockman. Chauvinism meaning 'biased devotion to any group, attitude, or cause'.

...Ah, may I ask who you Vice-Presidential nominee is? I am quite interested....President Mandrake is a Mid-Westerner, and I am Californian...

President Mandrake isn't your Vice-Presidential pick though is he? It's kind of funny that you would bring this up right now. I had lost patience for the end of the primaries and was going to announce it anyway.

Joseph Walker, a true american patriot and entrepreneur, is my running mate on the Democratic Ticket.

Which section of society am I solely pandering to again?

Gentlemen of the Federal Party, fellow candidates: I suppose it is my place now to bow out of the primary and cast the deciding vote, but I have another proposal. I believe the three of us should agree to support Eamon Callaghan on a Democratic/Federal fusion ticket this election.

What do you think?
