1.) I would agree to your industries supplying the US Army with 50% of it's needed weapons for 10 years, instead if 100% for 5 years. This would allow for continued growth of independent contractors.

2.) I have no objection to that so long as any future labor reforms that I wish to implement (shorter workday and higher healthcare) are already inplace upon the completion of the factory's construction.

I am happy with that. Elipious arms will supply the military with 50% of its arms needs for 10 years. The arms contract will be signed after the election (if you become president). Your future labour reforms will be implemented. Construction will begin immediately. I vote for Michael Jamous

I propose the Labor Act, a law that will guarantee the right of workers to unionize and those unions to collectively bargain.

(Laws for collective bargaining on the national level through a board of labor-management relations would be a natural follow up in later years, and a national profit sharing and partial self-management scheme as found in some Western European countries in our modern world would naturally follow some more time even after that)

I shall outline my policies upon an election win.

Economy: Interventionism
Diplomacy: Befriending Prussia, Increase relations with Great Britain
Reforms: 14 Hr Workday, Limited Safety Regulations ((Still too early for acceptable I think, BBB correct if wrong)), Low/Acceptable Healthcare ((depending on what has been achieved so far)), possibility of increased minimum wage ((see Miscellaneous))
Religion: Freedom for all, limited Government activity within ((Not sure what that would be, or why we even make it an issue))
Citizenship: Full Citizenship
Military: Pro Military; Expansion of Navy
South: Continued Radical Reconstruction, while becoming more leniet as the South calms down. Complete withdrawn of Federal Troops as situation develops, replacing them with newly recruited law enforcement for their respected areas.
Influence: Enforce Monroe Doctrine, Influence Japan and colonize unclaimed Pacific Islands
Cuba/Spain: Continue diplomatic talks, but if Spain continues to resist, war with strategic strike by USMC against Cuba, and Pacific Fleet invasion of Philippines. Diplomatic solution is the upmost importance though.
Socialist Ban: Remove ban, official Government apology, attempt to lessen talk of Revolution but not banning talk
Miscellaneous: Formation of the FBI to counter the emergence of the KKK, use of SS agents and elite Army personel as first agents. Increased funding for education across the nation, with a possible Bill banning child labor to help give them an education. Would compromise with a wage reform to see this put in place.

I would be glad to answer any questions reguarding my stance on these issues.

Social Reforms:
A program to bring other areas of social reform up to the standard of our safety regulations, gradually if necessary - rapidly if we are able.

Political Reforms:
Free unions, free press, and full citizenship.

Economic Policy:
Trade policy will be determined by the experts (BBB) as the situation demands.
Development policy will be kept at interventionist so that we have the full array of options available to us and can afford important social reforms in terms of tax revenue.

Foreign Policy:
We need to be exporting our products to the world and politically isolating France, not wasting energies on an irrelevant power such as Spain. Rather than supporting the British in their leadership position among the Great Powers, we should seek to take that top position ourselves and focus on securing the European continent against France and Russia by strongly supporting Prussia's mission of German unification and strengthening Austria. Germany and Austria are the premier powers of Central Europe, and a central policy is the best way to keep Europe divided and thus free, rather than dominated by a single hegemony that could threaten the United States and Great Britain. We can also safely support Austria against the tottering Ottomans without putting Americans in danger.

Military Policy:
Social reforms and social spending are the number one priorities, economic expansion be it industrialization or trade agreements are next, isolating France through diplomatic and economic support of German unification and Austrian superiority over the Ottoman empire is the third priority. Military development is the fourth priority and that priority shall be focused on the navy, which is instrumental in the priorities regarding foreign trade.

The Reconstruction:
The working people of the South should not be punished economically, but neither can we neglect more populous regions in terms of economic development. Our most important duty in the South is maintaining freemen land grants, encouraging full employment as a safeguard against unrest, and preventing violence or the removal of citizen rights against freemen.

Government Reform:
The Department of Reconstruction's job is to protect and encourage the economic success and continued ownership of reconstruction land grants by the freemen. Other concerns should be focused nationally, rather than regionally, which is why I support making the Justice Department a cabinet level portfolio (anti-lynching, protecting the rights of immigrants, engaging against terrorism, etc.) and the creation of a Secretary of Labor.

Other Policy:
I fully expect my proposed Labor Act to pass Congress and, once I assume office, to gladly enforce that law - which would guarantee the right to unionize and for unions to collectively bargain. Without collective bargaining there is no union, not really.

On foreign policy I disagree. Why should we care about the power nations have in Europe? Partnership with France and Britain could be good, since they're both civilized democracies. Spain however harbor criminals that have created much chaos and disaster in America. I am against war of any kind, but we should work for a political isolation of Spain. A nation that support criminal activity should not be trusted.

Mr Beuke, your foreign policy is a shamble. You want to support Prussia and Austria? The two german arch enemies. You also don't want to support the UK, yet you don't want them threatened? And for some reason you want to politically isolate France, a nation that has done nothing wrong, but you are willing to let Spain keep the rebel government? Furthermore, why do you want Austria to beat the ottomans and why should that have anything to do with America?

You military policy is also a joke. It's got more to do with the foreign powers than it has to do with the US military.

I agree greatly with your proposed foreign policy Mr Beukes. We should continue to befriend Great Britain, while moving to take their position as the greatest nation in the world. France must be limited in its power over the states of Europe so that another Napolean may never again rise. We must encourage the Austrians to cease their attempts at unifying the German people and instead let the Prussians do that while they, the Austrians, dismantle the decaying carcass of the Ottoman Empire, possibly even allowing the Greeks to reclaim their former dominance over the Peninsula.

The only thing I do not agree, is your insistance that Spain be left alone. We must not allow ourselves to apear week infront of the world by a second rate power at best. This is not just a matter of seeking justice, no this is a matter of national honor and integrity.

As has become the custom I announce my platform for Wilkinson Presidency.

Economy: Heavy Interventionism, spending a large quantity of national revenue on expansion of especially profitable industries. While seeking to lower taxes across the board by reducing military expenses. Keeping subsidies for all except weapons.
Diplomacy: Seeking friendly relations with all the other Great Powers and slowly withdrawing ourselves from foreign alliances. Pacts of Friendship ((military access I think prevents DOW so get these with UK, Russia, France)) Fomenting a continent spanning alliance with South America
Reforms: Increases to Acceptable Healthcare/Good ((or +2 to whatever has been achieved so far)) No further constraints on Factory owners. Expansion of factories should take care of unemployment, and pensions at this stage are a luxury we may not be able to afford
Religion: Each to their own in this pluralistic society ((Agree slightly with King5000 not sure what this achieves))
Citizenship: Full Citizenship, protection of African Americans to get out of the South and seek new homes in the west and north. Encourage immigration to the South from other nations
Military: Pacifism, no new brigades. Complete ordered ships, and replace out of date ships with new ones.
South: End Radical Reconstruction, take a soft power approach with police and educators going hand in hand. While drawing down troop numbers.
Influence: Bring all of South America into sphere, save for European colonies. Colonize remaining Hawaiian islands. Second term will see increase in colonization
Cuba/Spain: No war, encourage high level talks with some give and take on both sides. State visit to Madrid within first 6 months in Office
Labour Unions: Only non-socialist, but seek to increase strength of Unions in bargaining power and rights under the law, remove ban on Vinogradist parties.
Technology: Focus on commercial especially those that add to Factory input/output as well as necessary industrial advances.
Miscellaneous: Agree with Jamous on formation of the FBI to counter the emergence of the KKK and other anti-American groups. Encourage westward immigration, more clerks and teachers throughout our nation.

I would be glad to answer any questions regarding my stance on these issues.

France and Russia represent powers that could sweep through and divide Europe between each other, that could conquer the Germanies.

Prussian conquest of Austrian by force would create a ramshackle hell of rebellion that would collapse, it would also be despotic. That's why I say we support both Prussia and Austria, we need to prevent them from warring with each other if we want a strong central Europe to stand against the French!

Furthermore, the Austrians represent the natural counter to Russia in Eastern Europe - the balkan nations should be under the influence of Austria rather than the Ottomans they despise. Do you want a free Greece only for it to become absorbed by Russia? Or would you rather have a free Greece allied with Austria?

It is up to Prussia to stabilize central Europe, it is up to Austria to stabilize Eastern Europe. We should aid them in these actions.

As a practical matter, it is best for us to have allies that are strong but not strong enough to destroy us. That's why developing Prussia and Austria is important. Having two strong allies rather than one monolith is better for Americans.

(( Also, if one has a lot of Catholic German and other Catholic constituents, it is bad enough that allowing Prussia to absorb Bavaria is a necessity - letting them conquer Austria would be really really bad ))

This debate shows where the ideas of foreign entanglements whether they be hostile or friendly ends us. A debate upon the question of whether we would prefer Austria or Russia to control Greece... Let the US look after her own interests, showing her benevolence and kindness to all people, all nations. Under the period of splendid isolation that a Wilkinson Presidency would usher in we would not need to care about the outside world, our industry would boom, our population blossom and all others would yearn to see their corrupt despots who play chess with their people's lives replaced with a democratic republic that like our own would be friendly to all others.
I would encourage all Americans to look at the candidates that they support and see will this man send our family or friends to fight in a foreign land? Or will he ensure that they are here working towards the growth of the United States at home.

Edward Wilkinson the Governor of the Fine state of Indiana
