once you have a subspecies you can create a template based on that subspecies (with the +1 point and +1 max traits) and then apply it to every member and subspecies of its primary parent
They should make it so that merging happens only once. If you're born via interxeno marriage then you should no longer be able to create another new species.

For example I have several that are along the lines of "half-half-human ilustratum" each being put into its own species category. I can only assume this is the result of "trading" pops back and forth with other empires that also do cross breeding(I have a mod that makes that a more common thing) and that also did accessions.
