Yep, don't even bother to research the techs when I have a lot of cross breeding going on because I know that it would be a timely headache to actually use genetic modifications.

once you have a subspecies you can create a template based on that subspecies (with the +1 point and +1 max traits) and then apply it to every member and subspecies of its primary parent

It's breaking it apart into dozens of trees in my game, 32 by a quick count. As I said I didn't bother researching the technologies but going off of how I know it worked before wouldn't modifications have to be done for every separate tree?

For example I have several that are along the lines of "half-half-human ilustratum" each being put into its own species category. I can only assume this is the result of "trading" pops back and forth with other empires that also do cross breeding(I have a mod that makes that a more common thing) and that also did accessions.

It actually got so bad in one of my long games that the species piechart in my demographics tab literally ran out of colors. It was a rainbow for about half of the pie, and then the rest was just black.

I believe that was originally the intention. Eat "primary" species can create a half-species with every other "primary" species though, so you get a lot of them.

is there not a way to limit the number of Aliens who live on you Planets?

it would be broken to breed a super psy borg species with all the good traits.

but you have to be xenophile to crossbreed in the first place right?
it sucks that you cant purge unwanted Aliens or at least enslave them.

by species category you mean a primary species, right? not a subspecies? i haven't seen that happen myself, but if it is happening, it would be a problem, and probably something that should be changed/fixed. species/subspecies links are supposed to (or should) be kept even when they move across empires
