[Zeno: I'm referring to the game. As you said, in real life, it's "are".
Zenek: Thank you.
Draco: Brittany and Eire were annexed. Scotland, France, and Bourbonnais are vassals, to be annexed ASAP (or in the case of France, once they get some of the Burgundian lands).]
The Kingdoms of England, Scotland, Ireland, and France
1458-1460
York and Lancaster each other oppose,
though neither side smells good as a rose.
Henry works to stop this foul rebellion,
And Edward seeks his kingship to close.
Not in England but in France it starts,
Edward rushing in with his swords and darts.*
Henry gives him a quick knock on the head,
And the Yorkists go home--"Zounds, that smarts!"
For a while a watched peace remains,
Henry celebrates, and Edward pains.
Neither of them ready to fight this war,
Until a plague Henry's reputation stains.
1461
Death, because so little blood was spilled,
Needed, through disease, many people killed.
Henry ignores this little matter here,
But Edward the next event willed.
The banner of rebellion is raised once more,
And begun again is the Roses' War.
He marches on London, and Henry flees,
And Edward's crown no blood does store.
1464
Henry plans to return to the throne,
And to this purpose raises money and loan.
To Cornwall he sails, with his men prepared
To die for him, and for him alone.
Edward sends Somerset, his general best,
To deal with Henry, that red-rosed pest.
Though gravely wounded Somerset is,
Henry and his men flee to Ireland west.
In Connacht next his banner flies,
And any man wearing the white rose dies.
General Broom** marches on his army,
And off the isle sweeps those red flies.
1470-1
For six years now he quiet stays,
For many a man of his army lays
A corpse upon some English field,
Rotting under the white sun's rays.
But Edward cannot stay king forever,
Nor can he seem to hold things together.
Many of the nobles he alienates greatly,
And Henry returns to make things better.
But aged he is, and not long reigns,
His spirit no longer in the world remains.
Edward returns, for lack of anyone better,
Though the nobles this decision pains.***
