My king of Castille will probably die in a few years since he is rather old.
His first born child and successor has become the Pope.
Now, what will happen when the king dies? Should I continue playing as the Pope? I don't think CK allows you to do that....
Will the game end?
I would prefer to know what will happen as soon as possible, so that I will have the chance to bring that child "closer to God" :D and not end the game.

I don't have much use of him, since due to a bug I am not the Pope controller...

Details, details. Everyone's all the time worrying about details. :D

("I typed 'die' and nothing happened! This game is seriously bugged! I want my money back!"
"Press 'Enter', you inbred moron!"
"But you didn't say to do that!"

Cut to scene from the Three Stooges...)

You can test:
1. Save the game
2. Select your king
3. Press F12, write die.

What happends?

Very interesting... The son inherited the throne of Castille and remained as Pope and kept the papal vassals under his liege. The game continues normally, but I can't excommunicate anyone. He is like any other king.
I decided to take one more step forward. I killed the son and his successor took all the titles, even the papal.
It is a family title from now on.

The question is: Are you Pope or are you King of the Papal State?

King of Papal States. ;) That's a new one. Is there a Pope somewhere else?

He must be either in Avignon or someplace in rural Montana.

Well, in my game the Pope actually temporarily moved to Jülich for the run of a single reign. Don't ask me why.

And no, it wasn't his home province. It was actually MY Pope (playing King of Wales), but I didn't get Papal Controller. They did steal my province that I had assigned him to be pope of, though. So all in all, it was lose-lose. :)

Bizarre.

Oh, would that I had the game, bizarre or not, but alas! The mail! It mocks me!

The ability of the pope to revoke bishop titles and annex a province is the single most important reason why I create bishoprics (sp?) sparingly.
