I testet an empire with the new Pompous Purists Civic and it's really cool! I normally play diplomatic xenophile empires and this was a completely different experience. I was really impressed because no other empire can close borders to you (exept fallen ones of course) and whats more important, no one trys to rivalize me! I testet it by switching empire by console command and yes you can make a rival with pompous purist but the AI does not and thats a huge deal. It was the best xenophobe experience i ever had in fact.

The civic has only two downsides. One is most likely a bug that will be fixed some time and the other is a base mechanic but more hindering than good for those civ.

First the bug: If i try to make a deal with another empire i often need two tries because the first aproach simply vanishes in the aether after the deal is sealed (no ti's not broken, it vanished ;)). It happend multiple times by establish embassys and commercial pacts for me.

The mechanic issue is by releasing a vassal from your own empire. The vassal gets the pompous purist civic too and it's not possible to make any deals or even an embassy between those two because non of us accept a deal from the other :p. Maybe a thing to look into somewhere in the future but not gamebreaking.

Over all Pompous Purist is an mazing civic and for the first time i liked playing with xenophobes! Really nice addition to the game and a exceptional experience for me so far because i needed to do something for my diplomacy.

Can they declare war on you?
Not even beingable to declare rivalry on you, seems like easy mode to me.
Yes, war is possible like always. And they can declare rivalry. But the AI does not with that civic and thats a huge bonus imo.

I have Pompous Purists Civic and in my game the A.I. can and do rival me.
Maybe because i had parcifist as ethic in addition. That was only my observation that they didn't rival me. I know it's possible.

This is probably not working as intended and obviously a gameplay issue but I sort of love the flavor.

I am running Pacifist/Egalitarian/Xenophobe Pompous Purists and got 1 AI to rival me on their own. I have another one rivalling me where I started the rivalry. It does seem weirdly rare, but the AI can do it!
