Probable.

Again, there's a slight probability of that. But it should depend on the circumstances. The Chinese leadership wouldn't attack Taiwan if the US pascific fleet is too close to Taiwan, for an example.

The US, having 40K troops there, would have to intervene whether they like it or not. Failure to provide safety for an ally would make Bush's popularity sink like Titanic. Hence, they're pretty much forced to.

Since Saddam's supporters account for a whopping 4% of the population the Baathists simply won't do as a side in the civil war. Sunni, Shia (Iran backed) and Kurds is more probable.

Gyras, your plot is O.K., but I think we already kind of came up with a slightly better plot. You can read it on page 1 (AIM chat).

Also, Lord_VR, you have to stop insulting people and acting as if you are better and know much more than everybody else. You used repeated profanity (in this thread), you called somebody an idiot (other thread), and when you review these plots you attack the thread (no respect for the writer). Please, let's be civilized, and a little more nicer to people.

Why China to fall into Alliance with Korea? China does not want to spoil relations with developed country of the world but if China this will do that economy of the country will powerfully spoil, in the same way has to be a local sanction which are imposed on China in the event of alliance with Korea

China will fall into alliance with N. Korea if it turns out to be beneficial to China, thru events. If Chinas going to war with its neighbors that will spoil relations with the west and it just may turn out that a alliance with N. Korea can provide some good reason for war to further Chinas interests an example would be the Korean war.

I'm dreadfully sorry for my unintended insults that, while they certainly weren't even meant to be anything close to an insult, sparked this terrible rift in the relations between myself and certain board members. It's just that I come from sectors of the Internet where people understand the concept of sarcasm. I should've known better than bringing down serious discussions to such awfully low levels.

Can you ever forgive me, God? Pretty please with sugar, choclate and peanuts on top?

O.K., please stop with this nuicance known as your sarcasm. In reality (not on internet), I'm a sarcastic person also, but when it comes to the internet, I curb my sarcasm so I don't offend people (you might just want to try the same thing).

Also, calling somebody an "idiot" or misguidedly attacking a country is an insult, no matter if you say so or not.

You talk as if your superior and the people on this board are morons (think:"It's just that I come from sectors of the Internet where people understand the concept of sarcasm."). If you keep acting this way, you are going to cause MORE HARM to this mod then good. So please, for the sake of the mod, become a little more civilized. Thanks.

Yes, It can be very helpful. Lord_VR, you seem to be a smart person and I'm sure you have good ideas and you can help, if you would like.

Like Buke, Lunar, and I have repeatedly said, We want and need as many people as we can get. With the great work Buke did on the map, With the great work Lunar did on the graphics, prop posters and ministers, with the Work Strath_pc did on the U.K. OOBs, and the OOB work that Raczynski, Scottskofski, and niklassthlm took part in, this mod looks like it will be VERY good. All I want is that we have a great group of modders that unite for the common cause of the MDS, with all political and emotional beliefs aside. Thanks.

lets see if anyone likes my plot line:

1. Following more run-ins with US soldiers stationed in Korea (as was happening a while back), anti-US sentiment rises in South Korea. South Korean event: expell US troops (US divisions in Korea dissapear into US build queue, dissent -10%) or not (dissent hit)

2. North Korea enters a military alliance with China. Once this happens there should be an event triggering Chinese claims on Taiwan and North Korean claims on South Korea if they are not already there.

3. This will also trigger an event for South Korea to re-join the US alliance (the US exp forces re-appear, slight dissent hit, an even bigger dissent hit if they do not rejoin) and a US event to make public statements to recognize Taiwan or not. The US recognition event should be like the current "UK offers alliance to Poland" event where no matter what the choice is they take a slight dissent hit. There would be several options to this nature:
A. Make public statements supporting Taiwian (WE + 10-20%, dissent +5%)
B. Taiwan must stand alone! (WE - 5-10%, dissent + 10%)
C. Make public statements and offer alliance (WE + 15-25%, dissent + 10%, give chance for Taiwan to enter alliance)
This would be one of the most important events, and if US backs down here, it will hold it back in the future. A Chinese response event could possibly lead to the war beginning here.

4. Tensions rise at the India-Pakistan border. US and EU are distracted trying to settle dispute.

5. North Korea begins to amass troops along the border with the South, not bothering to warn their Chinese allies. Kim is desperate, his people are starving, and massive pro-unification rallies are threatening his hold on power so all he has left is his huge military. Without warning, half a million North Korean troops strike across the border and WWIII may have begun (depending on what South Korea went with in events). If South Korea is not in US alliance, there will be an event where their president comes to US for help, and US can bring them to alliance or not.

6. China and US are distracted, so India gets event whether to finish the Pakistani problem or not. EU gets intervention event (send supplies+tech, do not intervene, direct intervention)

7. Following increased terrorist activity along her borders, Russia takes the opportunity to strike into Chechnya and Ukraine. Another EU intervention event could possibly lead to war here.

5a. After pro-democratic demonstrations, the North Korean Army refuses to follow orders and quelch the protestors (very similar to end of USSR) and Kim is overthrown and escapes to China. Soon after, Korea is reunited again. More events here could lead to Korea leaving or joining US alliance, depending on where it was before, and China invading to restore the communist leaders to their righful positions or something to that nature.

There could also be a random event for democratic countries: there has been a major terrorist attack by # nation (there would be a certain list of terrorist-supportive nations i.e. Iran, Libya etc. that the event would draw from) declare war or not? declaring war would not give any dissent hit despite declaration of war and not would give a huge dissent hit.

These are just guidelies of what I hope to see from this mod. I want there to be an abundance of different ways in which the war can begin so the game plays unpredictably. I am also, obviously, a big fan of events with choices and I hope to see a lot of these so the player can usually determine how the war happens.

This mod looks great and I look forward to it's release so I can write one hell of a Russian AAR.

Interesting ideas, some of them could very well be used although the main starting plot will almost certainly be what Marty has posted at this point. Some of the stuff can be used as side-plots or be added to create more detail into simple things (Allying with Taiwan).

The only thing I don't know about is #7, the Russians are already in Chechnya and Europe would retaliate heavily should they attack Ukraine. Russia doesn't have anywhere near the strength required to take on Europe. Russia would need a nationalist or something in charge in order to do something that provocative.

The most useful suggestions at this point will probably be ones that build off of what has been posted as the main idea so far.

Actually, Lt. Lane, your idea was pretty good.

I like your idea, but I STILL think the idea Lunar and I worked on was a LITTLE better, but maybe we can fuse them both?

I think that when the mod is complete, I'm not going to be playing Regular HoI or CORE Anymore!

EDIT: As much as I do agree that the most important suggestions are ones building off the one I posted, the one I posted by no means has to be the one we use if nobody wants to.

I said "at this point" because I believe the main plot is the most important at this point while the side-plots that add depth (and therefore fun!) are more important at later stages.

Well, Yes, at this point, the main plot IS the most important, but I was stating that we do not have to use the idea created in the AIM chat. I believe that right now all suggestions added to this thread should be branching of the main plot, and later on, as you said, side plots become important.

My idea is that then China has settled things in their corner, they turn their eyes against Russia. Their invasion leeds to the collapse of the goverment and the Eu forces invades to stabilise the country. Diplomatic relations with China is worsened, but a treaty is created, their Russia is divided in two parts. The treaty is broken and war breaks out.

Maybe this was a little bit too detailed, but my idea is that EU goes to war with China over Russia, with a slight chance to instead join China and invade ME and GB.

Also what to do with Africa? It would be too boring if they would be left out.
