When the Black Death hit Europe in the mid 1300s, a variety of societal, economic and cultural consequences arose from it. You can quite litrerally fill a library with publications that deal with the changes that the Black Death brought. Surely not all of them can (and should) be modelled here, but...
..one of the grave consequences was the weakening of the catholic church, setting the stage for the reformation 100 years later.
Should this be modelled in the game by giving all major parent religions (or at least all christian religions) a hefty hit to moral authority, along with a bunch of events connected to it? Heresies would become a real issue instead of a minor annoyance.
This is especially true for catholic rulers, currently playing as a catholic becomes very boring once a) all holy orders are available and b) the mongols are stopped in their expansion (if you have HL, if you don´t, the Mongols barely make an appearance at all anyway). You would at least have to cope with a new challenge in the late game.
