Well in my mind I am ready to go to the next stage of the affair, however I cannot see how the other sections can must up enough activity (save maybe EU2 or CK or Vicky) for a series of awards in such detail.

I think some of the categories were a little to ambiguous. For example the best Fanfic... I mean, if by Fanfic you mean a straight out account on "I did this, the AI did that", then I'm not sure there's much to reward, since the impact of style, writing skill etc will be minimal. On the other hand, the winner of that category was a hilarious piece of comedy - and for that, there should've been a category.

So I'd propose drop the fanfic category, make a comedy one and leave us with four awards: Best History Book, Best Story, Best Comedy and finally Best Overall.

To simplify things (not least the nomination process), I'd like to propose that in the future, the candidates for Best Overall should be the winners of the three other categories, since logically the best AAR must also be the best in its category.

I have spoken - and now I want the vote on Best Overall HOI2 AAR, dammit!

We might also add more catagories to make it more interesting, such as Best Personal Account, Best Losing AAR (a game where the author loses), and Best Battlescenario AAR as possible additions. With the sheer amount of AARs, even withen HoI2 alone, I think that we can safely have several catagories.

I must admit there are a number of very good pieces on the list, and it will be a very tough call as to which one will be the winner, a most exciting campaign I hope. Good luck to all those who entered.

The Golden Readers Choice HoI2 AwAARd poll is now open (and stickied) in the HoI2 forum. Check it out. A strong showing will probably mean expansion of the awards into other AAR forums.

Sir Humphrey, I'd like to suggest that if there are any more People's Choice AwAARds (which I hope), then it would be a good idea to have joint awards for HOI 1/2 and EU1/2. I think this would actually help keeping the fora for the older games alive, since there will probably not be enough activity there to have their own AwAARds.

Without such joint awards, some gems written for these older games will surely be overlooked; just look at the winner of the People's Choice AwAARds: Best narrative (or novella) AAR - for the greatest part, it IS a HOI1 AAR. What if cthulhu hadn't converted to HOI2, which required some considerable modding skill? Then the very best of the best novella AAR wouldn't even had been elegible for nomination!

I'm sure it has been proposed before. But no harm putting forth a good idea, even if it's not that originial? Hell, if I had to be original all the time, I wouldn't write a line!

There are many excellent AARs in both the EUI and HoI1 forums that have passed to the wayside. I can think of one author in particular who's work appears to be all but forgotten.

So I would agree that all forums should be plumbed for nominations if these AwAARds continue.

Either way, make sure to keep Stroph, Met and myself posted on intentions and ideas. It's always been an unwritten rule. It saves cluttering up the boards with duplicate effort or proposing something that's been done.

Reagrding the issue of Eu1 and HoI aars, I think it would be prudent that if such a scheme were to be undertaken in an effort to conduct the awards in a manner that would befit the best interests and wishes of the community that certain aars and pieces from the community be up for the awards in so far as much as they can be qualified for such an ward by means yet to be deterimned, however once those means are justified and approved by the established body for making those necessary decisions, then the ends can be established by the means.
