The Reign of King Elis Pendragon Chapter IV
Following the subjugation of the majority of Scotland, Elis instituted elective monarchy in this newly conquered land. The Scots succession laws used to be Tanist, but Elis wished for his son to inherit him not any of his brothers or uncles.
Elis wished for the county of Ross one of the two remaining counties in the Moray duchy to fall under the Dragon banner. War was declared and the king sent his retinue to crush the opposing levies of Moray who numbered less than 1000 men. The scots were caught in the county of Caithness and utterly wiped out at the battle of Dornoch for only 17 Welsh lost. Elis would become a skilled tactician during this battle. Ross was sieged out and the war won a few months later. It was given to a loyal lord a member of the Dunbar family, he was able to persuade the lord of Moray to fall under the Pendragon Banner bring all of Moray under Elis’s control.
Following this victory, Rebels rose up in Teviotdale and began to siege the county. Elis raised a few vassal levies to argument his forces and crushed the majority of the rebels at the battle of Melrose, the remainder were hunted down and killed during the next few weeks. The rebel leader was captured and executed.
With this rebellion dealt with, news reached Elis that Thormond had embraced Welsh culture. Many Welsh people had left Wales and emigrated to the more sparse Ireland to find opportunities in the Emerald Isle.
Yet another rebellion rose up, this time in the county of Carrick, this rebel force was larger than the previous rebel force in the last rebellion. So Elis raised all his personal forces and sent them to Gowrie where they merged with his retinue forming a host of nearly 6000 men. They engaged the Rebels at Crossraguel, but the army which mostly consisted of savage highlanders fought back ferociously and inflicted sizable losses to the Welsh before they were forced to retreat. The rebels were hunted down and slaughtered shortly after and the rebellion was over.
With yet another Rebellion over, Elis decided to claim Argyll the last independent county in Scotland. War was declared and the Argyll forces were mostly crushed at the battle of Dunollie. They were hunted down and slain, and the county was besieged the war won a few months later bringing all of Scotland under the rule of the Pendragons.
Sorry for the delay folks, got back into playing New Vegas recently and that and schoolwork prevented me from writing this. Next chapter will be the last for Elis I hope although he does have the strong trait so he is one tough cookie. It will be out soon.
