The reign of Meilyr II Pendragon Chapter III/World Interlude 1082/Epilogue
Meilyr the second would expand the rule of the Pendragons to the Orkneys and would also unite the majority of Brittany under a dukedom. There was little in the way of rebellion during his reign aside from the Derby rebellion in the first decade of his reign which was crushed with incredible ease. The middle ages began and wars and intrigue dogged mainland Europe and other parts of the world. Yet, the empire was not involved in the issues of mainland Europe or indeed the wider world it preferred an isolation policy and never intervened in the world at large. The reign of Meilyr II was considered the golden age of the Pendragon Dynasty.
By the time of Meilyr II death in 1084, he left the empire in a very strong state for his son to take control of the mighty Prydain Empire. Yet, this is as far our knowledge of the Pendragon dynasty goes. All we know is that the Pendragon dynasty would rule and expand their empire until the end of the middle ages but the dynasty and empire were torn apart by the political intrigue and warfare from the 1450’s onwards. A sad end to a truly mighty dynasty. A dynasty which had started out as dukes of Gwynedd and yet over 200 years the Pendragons pushed their ambitions further afield and took control of Wales, Ireland, Scotland and England. They brought peace and stability to the cultural melting pot of isles and would never be forgotten.
The last World Update 1084
Little has changed in Prydain since the last maps were made, the only addition to Pendragon lands are the Orkneys off the coast of county Caithness. Which were claimed in a holy war in the 1060’s.
Europe is still a mass of kingdoms, yet they all seem to be at peace for each other. The majority of the Brittany dukedom is under Pendragon control and it is their only foothold on European soil. The last two Brittany provinces are in the domain of the kingdom of West Francia, which has now split from the kingdom of Aquitaine but still remains a strong power in the region, alongside Italy and its southern neighbor.
In Hispania, only one nation hold the most sway in the regions the Catholic Ummayyds who hold the majority of central and southern Spain. Other nations in the region are weak and lack much power to pose a threat to the Ummayyds.
In Scandinavia, a war may soon break out; King Budi of Norway had two sons one which inherited the throne of Norway, while the other inherited the throne of Sweden. With Norway now in a regency after the death of the firstborn son Sweden and Norway may be mostly united through warfare. The duchy of Trondelag was granted its independence by Meilyr II, but they may fall back under the banner of Norway soon enough. Denmark still controls 2 duchies in Sweden and has regained control over the duchy of Skane from Norway. Their forces are strong and they may be able to exert more control over Scandinavia in years to come.
The Byzantine Empire has lost control of its holdings in Outremer after a long and bloody war. The current Opos king is ill-suited to the task since he has the brain of a vegetable. Yet, the Byzantines may regain control over Outremer in later years as they are still very powerful. Bulgaria is weak but is still a holdout against Byzantine influence.
Rhys signed and closed the book having finally finished the chronicle which had consumed the last few months of his life. Many legends lay within its pages, Uther the great who had conquered Wales and Ireland in a single reign. Elis the Strong who had brought Scotland under the Pendragon banner. Rhys who had brought England under Pendragon rule by political intrigue and several other Pendragon legends who he could name but not talk about for it would take many hours to do so. Rhys smiled closed the chronicle and left the room closing the door behind him leaving the mighty tome of knowledge on his desk. So ended The Pendragon Chronicles
So, here we are at the end of it all. I cannot thank you readers enough for reading this AAR and giving me advice over the last 3 months. I never expected this AAR to get nearly 15000 views. I hope you guys will join me in my next AAR.
