The Path to Destruction
This AAR will focus on an ahistorical world that will start in 1936 and end with either a big "bang" or a massive victory for a specific faction. I will be monkeying with what happens in the world (I will be no specific nation, but I do have one goal in mind - entertaining the hell out of you with a story I've been pondering about for a long time!)
It will mostly be in History Textbook format, but I will throw in a narrative every now and again (maybe more, but it really matters about how lazy I am... heh...)
Anyway, I shall begin!
Chapter List:
Part - 1 In the Wake of a Depression
Chapter - 1 Fascists in Washington (Below)
Chapter - 1 Fascists in Washington
In January 1936, the USA was one of the leading economic powers in the world - trading its surplus of natural rescources and goods, a proud and competent President Roosevelt created jobs, gaining fame for his Republican Party and bringing Conservatism into the spotlight. In only a short time, the man had thrown the USA onto the right track - toward becoming a great economic power.
Over January, the US overtook the many other 'powers' of Britain and France in gross income, and upon the close of the month, held the most international trade agreements in the world, far surpassing the Allied powers in Europe. The month, however, was overshadowed by a growing movement within the borders of the great democratic nation. Worker Strikes were growing all too common, and without a strong reaction from Roosevelt, developed into a horrible problem that wrecked the US industry.
In early March, the German armed forces marched into Rhineland, forcing World concerns back to Europe, and away from the growing troubles within the world's current strongest economy. In a slew of talks, the Allies gave way to German demands for equality and the ability to protect its borders. Other, subtler movements along the Czech and Austrian borders were called to question, but never seriously considered. For, of course, the wrecked German economy had no place causing any sort of war in Europe.
Meanwhile, back in the US, Pittsburgh erupted into near-revolt as worker strikes turned into rampaging hordes. The night was labeled "The Pittsburgh Fire", a name which stuck because of how closely it truely was to the real thing - half the city had burned. This proved of little concern however, as on March 15, 1936, "A day that shall live in infamy" the White House was bombed by Fascist movement extremists, luckily, the only man to die was George H Dern, a low-ranking minister who had sat too close the window that had been the entrance point of the weak bomb.
In Asia, however, the day was remembered as the day that brought peace - Communist China and Nationalist China finally arranged a treaty, ending all hostilities.
With Germany settling down, and the wars in Asia silenced for the moment, eyes once more turned to the US.
In April, the world was shocked to see yet another "Fire", this time in Orlando Florida. The city went up in flames as Fascist "Militia" forces dislodged policemen, effectively taking over the City. The act was followed up by a major conflict in Washington, as elements of the Army infiltrated Congress and the White House, capturing and killing Roosevelt's Cabinet and several members of Congress. However, the President himself was never found.
In a matter of hours, the Fascist Movement had cut the head of the Nation, and siezed power within the ranks of the Military. The resulting power vacuum left the Nation in disarray. Riots and sometimes outright rebellion were all met with force, or the perpetrators detained, in a week, the Fascists had siezed the Nation.

"Mr.President." Lieutenant Kelris Manns said, stepping into the office, somewhere under Houston, Texas.
Roosevelt gave an aggravated sigh, turning his head as he lowered his spectacles to look at the young man. "Yes...?"
The Lieutenant grimaced, "The Fascists finished with their election, at this moment, they're giving a new oath of office to the winner - Franz Kuhn is to be president of the 'New Republic of America'. I just thought you should know."
Roosevelt grimaced as well - Franz Kuhn was incompetent, but ruthless in politics. It didn't surprise Roosevelt in the least to see the man rise to power. He hated that it had happened though. He hated every single thing that had happened since he realized what the Fascists were doing. He hated that he couldn't stop it; He hated that the men he thought he could trust, the men who had been close friends, were now either dead or with the Fascists. He hated it, and now the only thing he could do about it was hide. And wait. Wait to do - what? He didn't know, atleast not yet. He just had to bide his time.
"Thank you, Lieutenant. And thank you for following me..." He gestured around to the simple underground office.
"I realize this isn't the best of places to be, right now."
To the former President's surprise, the Lieutenant laughed. "Mr.President, I wouldn't miss this for the world. I love my country too much."
Roosevelt began laughing with him - until he began coughing, and was forced to stop - but he wasn't laughing at all because it was funny.
He was laughing because, the Lieutenant obviously had to be mad to follow a disgraced leader. And didn't it make Roosevelt mad, too, then to want to lead him, and the madmen that followed the young Lieutenant?
(Side Note: I was having trouble with my connection, so I didn't even want to try and fight it to put up Picture links, so I apologize for the lack of pictures in this first update, I promise many more in the next!)
