Joebthegreat II improves our Jump Engines so it is now possible to create a jump engine smaller than ever! He'll next start to look at Power Efficiency.
1/5 - The Wolves are confirmed on the A-VI planet in Gliese 105. SCL Francis Bacon dispatched for an active scan of the planet.
18/5 - Commodore Forgiven increase Training Bonus to 175.
29/5 - SCL Francis Bacon arrives in Gliese 105 and moves towards the Wolves planet with active sensors.
Following Ships are detected over the next week:
Hugin: 1
Gålö: 2

This worries the Naval Administration, since a large number of ships was detected last time we visited Gliese 105.

13/6 - Stone Munchers complete another asteroid. On to the next one.
18/6 - Our Defence Contractors have improved the efficiency of our Cloaing Devices yet again. They next work on the size of the thing.

Briefing Room 1, BC Washington - 30/6-2073

"So, What news from Gliese 105?" Admiral Boris ze Spider II calmly looked at Commander Birch, his Operations Officer, while the rest of his Staff quietly took their places for the briefing.

"Actually Sir, Not a damn thing!" Commander Birch looked back at the Admiral with tired eyes. She had been up since 4 AM working on refining the data dump from Francis Bacon whom just arrived back in Sol.

Boris raised an eyebrow at that report, but besides that waited for Birch to gather her thoughts.

"During the run from the JP to the 6th planet and back, Francis Bacon spotted a total of 3 ships. 1 Hugin and 2 Gålö's. The planet itself had Ground Forces, but estimate only a Garrison. No defences was detected. The Thermal and EM signatures indicates a population well below that of Chiron! Sir, I hate to say this, but I don't think that this is their home planet."

Boris nodded thoughtfully at the message and turned to look at his Intelligence Officer. "Becky?" he invited.

Captain Rebecca Nixon looked thoughtfull before answering. "Sir, If the information is accurate, I have to agree with Emily. However, I would like to investigate the sensor readings with my team before confirming anything. What worries me though, is where is the remaining ships? We know from previous encounters that they have at least 30 Destroyers, 7 Cruisers and a pile of FAC's besides Freighters and larger ships. Where are all these?"

Boris only nodded while looking thoughtfull. "Ok, get the information analyzed fully and I'll brief the Coincil of our findings. Last Question - Should the council order us to take direct action, when can we do this?"

"Depends on the target Sir." Commander Birch instantly replied. "If we are going for the Wolves, I would recommend some delay. We would of course have to wait for a gate to be constructed, but I would also recommend that the fleet completes training and overhaul before committing. Finally I would recommend that at least 2 of the Task Forces if not all 3 is committed to the operation. If we are going for the remaining Kox stronghold in Wolf 359, we have to see if we can get those cracked. IF we are going there, I would recommend that we stay at extreme range from the Kox weapons with all Destroyers and Light Cruisers escorting the BC's so we can pull away if needed.

"One other thing to remember Sir, We don't have that many modern missiles for our Launchers and our Fighters as well as the new F3 Fighters have not been delivered yet." Commander Ryan Wilson looked uninterested as usual, but the Logistical Officer was dead on the money.

Boris sighed and nodded at them all. "Good Points. Get me the last information and I'll push it before the council for considerations." With that he turned away and his staff quietly left the briefing room.

Ok councilors - What are your wishes? We have some targets at the moment, where 2 are more plausible that the others.

1: The Kox stronghold in Wolf 359. We can depart as soon as possible, yet we are fairly low on missiles. I can bring the bombardment cruisers, but that will take a few days of playing to fight the battle so something I would prefer to avoid. What I would attempt is to close towards the planet with full PD setup and 1 or 2 capitals and stopping as soon as the kox starts shooting. Unless the Kox are sneaky, we should be able to draw their full missile loads after us and disengage if needed.

2: The Wolves. We need to build a gate to get there, but I've hidden a JP which I Hope the Wolves haven't found yet. If they have, they have a clear avenue into Sol. The JP I'm using is 5 jumps from Sol though Alpha Centauri.

3: The Swarm - WAY away at last sighting. No idea where they are now.

4: Got 3-4 other systems that need a visit from some naval units, but no idea what's there at the moment. And I'm not going scouting since we don't have jump engines on the Heitmans, so we need Gate Network expansion.

Additionally, I'm not going to produce any more missiles for the next few years. First I'm going to gather some Gallicite to build them and secondly the IC Missile Drive was never researched. It is next in line, but will take 2½ years from now to research. If we go on the offensive before that we are stuck with older designs and Energy Weapons.

I vote we take on the Kox. The wolves have done nothing untoward as of yet. We won the last battle with older missiles, hopefully we can do it again.

I agree. Starting trouble with the Wolves before we know just how big their empire is would be foolish.

Is there any particular need to attack now, though? Does this Kox system have a resource we are short on (galcite, perhaps)? If not, I say wait a bit for the next generation of weapons. But in general I'm not much of a militarist.

Unknown. There is 5 rocky planets and 3 gas giants in the system along with 41 moons. No survey have been made yet. There is a potential polony (cost 3 or so).

Leave the wolves alone they havn't done anything to us yet. Kill the Kox instead and scan the system for Gallicite. Well probably find al least 1 deposit there.

The Precursors are a compartmentalised threat. All of their forces are already hostile, yet we are free to engage them piecemeal at times of our choosing. In contrast, initiating hostilities with the currently neutral wolves would lead to a war with an enemy able to choose their own time and place of engagement.

Given the current missile shortage, it seems wiser to engage the Precursors. We would be better able to limit the scope of operations to our available resources. A war with the Wolves would be a much less certain affair, and requires better intel before serious consideration.

Let's think a bit about the potential targets:

The Wolves, currently the only alien race that doesn't shoot our ships on sight. We have enough enemies to go around making another more. And on the intel from Gliese come the following conclusions:
a- It is their homeworld, but they have suffered massive attacks/decay from a 3rd party. We leave them alone as whoever is attacking them is not attacking us. More intel needed
b- It is not their homeworld, so they are based somewhere else. We do not know who we are engaging. More intel needed.
Also, there is the lack of misiles, which reduces our strategic options to engage an enemy whose guns we haven't seen fire... All in all, leave them be, for the time beeing. Besides, have we even cracked their language?

The Swarm. Waaay awaaay from us? Better, let them stay away from us.

The Kox, our enemy on space from day one... I say we go and finish that Koala nest. I don't know much about strategy so I'll leave that to the man in the uniform.

If there is a shortage of Gallicite, transfer all the mines from the Moon and other decaying sites to new sites at Alpha Centauri, perhaps get some on Procyon on line.

Also, can we get a map? With our sites and the known alien locations?

Ok, we have a consencus on this and policy will be updated as follows:

The Navy is instructed to clear all known Kox Infestation. The first Target will be the Wolf 359 sysstem to facilitate further exploration along that chain.

The Construction Command is instructed to open the Gate Network to the wolves. We have trade access and this will either open up for Civilians to trade with them or push them into hostilities. Since we have 1600+ in relation, that should be possible to open with no further problems. Additionally the chain will be expanded beyond the O'Dea and Wolf 359 systems to open up for first picket ships and since Heitmans

The Freight Division will begin to shut down the mining operation on Luna and transfer to AC. As that is completed, the next 100 mines should be close to complete and then transferred as well. No mining will commence in Procyon at the moment, since the locations is not as complete as in Alpha Centauro.

The Map is messy - I'll see if I can get it more logical and post it.

I agree with clearing out the Kox.
However, we should make it a priority to find out where the wolves are hiding their forces. And possibly survey their system a bit.

2073 - Part 3:

2/7 - Freight Command commence the transfer of mines from Luna to Alpha Centauri A-III. It is expected to take 244 days.
3/8 - Lord Isaac Strange have improved our Missile Launchers to reload faster. He refuses to share the details, but I am assuming that explosives are involved. He'll be working on actual design for future launchers next.
19/9 - New Missile Launchers have been researched. Lord Strange will now go back to improving our Railguns.

10: General

I am a bit worried at the moment, since for the last half year or so the game have started stopping at random intervals. I don't believe that there are fighting ongoing, unless we are talking about Kox JP Defences destroying others in 5 secs 1 salvoes. So another item I'll be doing over the next few sessions is getting Heitmans and Anuket II's working to ensure that we're not getting any unpleasant surprises. Additional Deep Space Tracking Stations are also entering construction to improve security.

2074 - Part 1:

2/1 - SCL Antwerp dispatched Wolf 359 to scout the chain.
15/1 - SCL Antwerp Scimming around in Wolf 359 spots ground forces on the A-I planet in addition to the Tuoni on the A-II planet. 24 missiles are also in the area.
27/1 - Amadeus completes research into Far Ultraviolet Laser wavelenght. This will result in a number of new turrets with new lasers.
2/2 - Captain Randakar II improves Fleet Maneuver to 148.
Captain Kingepyon II inproves Survey Bonus to 17%.
13/2 - Our Logistical Experts have improved our supply line efficiency and with it reduced the cost of Colonizing by 5%. They will next work on a Heavy Assault Brigade.
18/2 - Read Admiral Vainglory II improves Fleet Maneuver to 269.
28/2 - Captain Onbekende improves Deck Crew Bonus to 25%.
17/3 - Except for the 2 hostile planets, SCL Antwerp and Captain Nabobalis completes Geological Survey in Wolf 359. A 71k tons Sorium Deposit make it into top 10 and there's some decent other deposits as well which makes the system interesting to exploit. But no more than 14k Gallicite in total spread among 3 locations. decent access though, but probably not worth it to exploit. Antwerp will continue with a Gravitational Survey of the system.

5/4 - TF1 and TF2 transfers their tankers to TF3 and depart together for Wolf 359. The Whole of Frontier Fleet departs as well.
8/4 - Vice Admiral Boris ze Spider II improves Intelligence Bonus to 5%.
16/4 - The Navy arrives in Wolf 359. SCL Antwerp moves to support and join in the probe of the Defence of the planet.

18/4 - TF1 and TF2 will advance on the planet, less the Nautilus Carrier FCV Nautilus who will remain with Frontier Fleet in orbit of the 6th planet.
19/4 - TF1 and 2 are proceeding towards the planet. The plan is to stop at 45m km and begin missile bombardment, depending on enemy ECM.

12.27: CA Uganda opens fire at the enemy PDC. Without modern missiles it is not expected to handle the situation, but the fleet will advance to 30m km under cover of the salvos. The plan is for Uke to empty her magazines and await results before committing additional missiles.

12.59 - All missiles have been shot down. The navy will continue on course for now.
