Or in a more technical form, if we take for example the Type XR-27 missile, we see that by placing minescule charges on the casing, we can launch the missile and almost simultaneously blast the casing out of the launch tube, and then recycle the hot gases back round to push the new casing into place within a matter of seconds!

@ Darth - CA Ukraine rename CA Prinz Eugen. Also, when you do the conventional start, be carefull not to leave Sol to soon. I've had a few examples where I've hit Precursors/Swarm next door and if they get a fix on the JP, you can get visitors to Sol very quickly!

@ Santiago - Don't destroy those. We can use them elsewhere!

@ Nabo - Mystery Meat will do the job as well.

Sure you want them already? They're huge greenhouses, nothing fancy, I don't know how you're doing in the radiation/atmospheric pressure front...

Also, if the terraformers tell you that the air should be breathable, check your own sensors before opening the airlock, we lost a couple of red shirts back at '68 that way

How is the empire looking in terms of alien civilisations? I recall there being some alien race somewhere, but I wonder what they're up to ..

Besides the odd Kox and Swarm infestations we have only located 1 alien civilisation, the wolves. They are 3 jumps from Sol and Neutral at the moment. I have been ignoring them for a while now, while rebuilding our navy and they are currently 2nd in line for a visit from our fleet. We still have a Kox planetary infestation we need to clear out, but we are lacking the gallicite to properly build the needed missiles.

Therefore I'm seriously considering shutting down the mining operation on Luna temporarily and transfer the mines to 1 of the sites in Alpha Centauri for a faster boost. In general the Luna operation is becoming less and less attractive, but it's still Duranium and Neutronium right next door to Earth.

I'm also considering transferring them to Procyon since there is also a nice deposit there. That would possible allow us to let Alpha Centauri become a sector of it's own down the line.

Have you send a diplomatic team to talk to these 'Wolves' or have those efforts failed?

As for gallicite - that really is the best argument for building a beam based fleet I have ever heard :p

Yep, Diplo Team is working overtime to hide the fact that I'm planning an invasion.

And Gallicite remains a problem. If I recall correctly, our BC's need 300'ish tons of Gallicite per year EACH for maintenance..... I'm not even going to start thinking of the needs when we get the Nautilus' and Anvils into Maintenance Mode as well....

We need more mines - Or a good stockpile of Gallicite to be located somewhere. Like on the Wolves homeplanet....

One things I'm wondering about is if you can get away with *not* building military ships (apart from planetary defense and scouts) until you actually encounter something worth fighting in this game.

Sure, it will delay any invasion you would wish to do, but if you can manage to hide your planets from them you could possibly get away with it for a good long time ..
