As for avignon, look at the alliances of savoy.. If their allies aren't very strong or austria can keep them busy, DOW Savoy and hope avignon joins them. For the NI, I would go for military drill, you'll probably gonna need some morale..

Darn, I wish I would have thought of that yesterday. But what's done is done now.

Good AAR so far. I would go for the extra morale as well. Is it possible for you to ally with France? That would keep Burgundy busy while you conquer Avignon and snatch some land from Savoy.

Nope, an alliance with France is "Impossible". But Austria did prove to be a good ally against Burgundy.

You should attack quickly, I agree.

Also, have you considered using loans as a mean to victory? (taking large numbers of loans to fuel a large mercenary army) Bankruptcy may result, but given the odds (assuming Burgundy and/or Aragon gets military acess through France) it may be necessary.

I attacked the moment I loaded the game.

As for the loans, no need for them in this war, perhaps a later one.

Part II​

I took the Engineer corps NI in order to improve my siege speed on Avignons level 3 fort.

As suggested, I move my troops to Provence and declare war. Also note that Savoy is the alliance leader for the evil alliance.

We win the 1st Battle of Avignon by completely erradicating the Anti-pope's forces.

Then we get this nice message from Castille.

Meanwhile, our south Italian allies the Neopolitans, yummy ice cream , battle the Aragonese forces under the excommunicated king Marti.

And in the north, the main Burgundian and Savoyard forces besiege the Austrian city of Trent.

And the Habsburgs win, yay, I thought they were going to loose, since they attacked with about half the forces of Burgundy and Savoy combined.

While we happily besiege Avignon, the Burgundians decide to ruin our fun.

We Win

But then notice this...

Remember that Burgundian army the Habsburgs defeated? Well they decided Austria was too hard and went for us.

We obviously retreat..

But since they dont come after us...

Meanwhile in Iberia, the Neopolitans invade!!

Aren't they such good allies!!

Well, Back to Provence...

But first we defeat the Anti-pope's new forces...

While retreating to Provence, We get this Miraculous message...

And apparently, Burgundy was warning France, so they are now at war!!!

The Burgundians follow us to Provence, but we retreat to Avignon as soon as possible.

While the endless five days before retreating pass, we get this...

If you're fighting against the pope, you're on the losing side. Although what I don't get...the Avignon anti-pope should be under the thumb of France...and yet they decide to go with you. I guess that excommunication put the fear of God in them.

Part III
​

We begin with a new pope.

And as spl pointed out, our new mission is to conquer Ancona. Sadly, it is in the hands of our Ice Cream making friends, the Neopolitanese.

When we see Ancona might revolt away from our allies, the pope jumped so high with excitement, that his hat fell off.

But the rebels are defeated. And besiege Rome!!!

The years pass and the pope wonders if he'll ever complete the mission.

He got so bored one day he decided to help his Tuscan neighbors succed their mission. But they refuse.

Many years later, Modena decides that it will add the Papal shield to its collection, and becomes core.

Sadly, Benedictus the Random Roman Numeral died without seeing another mission.

And we get an evil pope.

This pope, however, is able to control himself.

Which is just what we needed to complete the mission...

Austria joins us, but the dishonourable scum that are the Neopolitanese don't.

Naples was allied to Mantua...

So we hire some Modenan Mercenaries and besiege Mantua.

Meanwhile in Rome...

But...

VICTORY!!!

AGAIN!!!

More lands are added to the Patrimony of St. Peter.

After Ancona, since the ice cream makers wont give it to us , we attack Abruzzi and Napoli, the Neopolitanesanan capital.

This is me besieging both provinces at a time.

We conquer the ice cream capital of the world.

...and Abruzzi.
