No, they should be (Eastern) Roman Empire. But that's not really the big problem...

Dynastic names like in CK2 would be the best for states like Ming, the Mamlucks or the Ottomans.

Have them start as Ottoman Empire and maybe allow them to become Turkish nation by decision.
If you see them as a successor state to Sultanate of Rum, call them Osman?
Just like Karaman is called Karaman, or Aydin is in game also Aydin.
At 1444, they deserve to be called Ottoman Empire. But lets say they lose their Balkan possessions, they should switch to Turkey.

True. Croatian territory got some loving in this iteration. Croatia would have quite a number of provinces some of them even rich. I believe it would be viable to take-out venice and with some careful expansion even dominate mediterranean.

Hopefully it will be possible to play ironman if you release a country in the beggining.
