October 1449 we get a chance to become the elector. We accept.

Time to start colonising!
Azores is colonized in November 1451. Two years later we discover Yucatan, a province owned by Zapotec:
Quickly they are annexed, and we get our first colonies:
Back to Europe:
France has eaten up and annexed Burgundy. Things are not looking good, and we decide to start bribing.
We diploannex Liege in 1458.
In May 1459 Johan III dies and Johan IV rises to the Throne. And guess what's the new heir's name?
Johan.
Anyway, when the time came, we formed Dutch nation. It happened on 22nd June, 1460:
